Apr 23, 2009 On tap at the Smokehouse. Not a whole lot of info on this one because it’s brand spanking new (in fact, the only reason it got tapped tonight is because they ran out of Centennial). Completely opaque orange color with a medium white head. Super citrusy hop aroma with a modest malt balance. I’m not great at guessing the hops in a beer, but I’m guessing Simcoe and Centennial on this one. Citrusy and grassy hop flavor giving way to a slight malt sweetness, followed by a bitter and grassy hop finish. I’ve always been a fan of Barley’s (despite the occasional batch that’s just off), but this beer truly surprised me.

Jun 21, 2009 Lightly hazed golden pour with creamy white head and lace. Very nice citrus hop aroma. Sweet malt with a nice medium/large bitter finish. Medium bodied with very good carbonation.

May 15, 2009 Sampled via roving growler at Dark Lord Day ’09. Pours a hazy copper amber brew with a thick and creamy beige head that dissipates to a creamy ring and some spotty lacing. Aroma of fruity citrus zest, grapefruit, some light caramel malt biscuit. Taste is medium to full bodied, light carbonation with a thick flavor of caramel malt, grapefruit juice and zest, with a touch of pine. Finish is mildly bitter, with a lingering sweet grapefruit aftertaste that sticks around.

Apr 30, 2009 Hazy orange color with a big beige head and lots of lacing. Aroma of citrus and floral hops. Flavor of citrus/grapefruit hops and some malts. Pretty drinkable with a long bitter finish.

Jun 3, 2009 (PPSG09, growler) Off-white head atop cloudy amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, pine, catty, some grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, pine/pineapple, some peach, light caramel. Medium body, some resin.

May 31, 2009 Growler from Puddintane (thanks so much!), shared at Peter’s NY gathering - inviting, glowing cloudy golden beer - explosive hop aroma - every kind of hop character you can name - floral, spicy, grassy - the flavor is much the same - kind of an earthy hop onslaught - yea, the malt is there, but probably not in enough abundance to balance it to some people’s taste, which is completely understandable - I really loved the intense bitterness, though - finished peppery, with a hint of grass and citrus - yum.

May 15, 2009 Draft at the MRAF 2009.
Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smooth bitter citrus flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration.
This is a standout beer.

May 31, 2009 PPRBSG09. Growler. Pours a golden body with a thin head. Grassy citrus and nice pine character. A moderate bitterness and etoh warming. Very nice.
