Taste is coffee, smokey, and slight sweetness from the cherries I assume. This beer has low cherry flavor, especially compared to Bell’s Cherry Stout. More drinkable than the Bells in my opinion. Dry body, but very enjoyable. One of the better beers at Barleys. BBB63 (4232), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 19, 2003 On tap: Medium brown hue with okay off-white head and some lace. Aroma hinted of toasted malt, nutty, fruity (but not too strong), floral hops, buttery, and smoky. The cherry taste is hidden mostly below the porter character of this beer, it adds a slight sour twang to the brew. Additional tastes on the palate were smoke, nut and mocha. Acidic finish. Clean and lively mouthfeel. Okay beer, the fruit is low keyed and makes this beer quite quaffable. Darkover (1314), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 18, 2003 Dark brown with a tan head. Roasted malt flavor with just a bit of cherries and sourness. Pretty good and drinkable. ultraspank (866), Dublin, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 7, 2003 Had this on tap at the smokehouse. Pours a dark brown with walnut highlights. The tan frothy head is fully lasting with fair lacing. The nose is apple butter, flowers, marachino cherries, and spice. The brew tastes quite stoutish (sweet stout), toasty vs roasty lacking the robust "burnt" flavor that I would expect from the style but I do like it. The finish is way deep and pleasant. The medium to full body is dry and lively. The finish feels chalky. Panzuriel (993), Westerville, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 19, 2003 Dark dark beer with a ruddy hint when held to the light. Subtle roasty aroma. Firm malty flavor with not a hint of bitter. Nice finish with a vague hint of cherry. Silky smooth. bender (293), Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 29, 2003 Updated: Jul 15, 2003Cask:
Poured an opaque black color with no head. No lacing.
Very roasted, malty aroma. A bit of cherry and a slightly sour aroma.
Deep rich malt and cherry flavor. The cherry combines with the slight hoppiness to make a very complex brew. The alcohol was slightly apparent in the taste but not overly strong.
Served straight from a room temp cask made this beer near perfect. Cask beer rocks!

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 26, 2003 This beer was almost black and had a light tan head that formed a circular lace. An aroma of malt and lightly of cherry. A flaovor of malt and cherry with some citrus present. A medium body and a slightly sweet finish. Another good beer from Barley's.
