Aromas of honey, yeast, orange, ginger, and a bit of nutmeg. Flavor is a nice blend of citrus, orange mixed with honey and topped with ginger, nutmeg and just a dash of cinnamon. Palate is medium bodied and the mouthfeel is great on this one. Low carbonation but oh so smooth. This is the best Christmas ale I’ve tried this year.. Good stuff.. Amber color, thin white head (that is the exact description I’ve used for most of their beers). All three spices stand out - honey, ginger, and orange peel - in the sweet malty flavor. Medium-full body. Very similar to Great Lakes x-mas, although I like the sweeter balance in this beer better. jsquire (2107), St. Marys, Ohio, USA

Nice amber color with a big cream colored head that left some lacing and a strong toasty nose. The beer reminded me of cinnamon toast with cinnamon, white sugar and a grainy astringency. Something green in the finish. Nice spiced Christmas ale. BennyTicklez (621), USA

Rather thin taste, with hints of orange, ginger and nutmeg. Very smooth. Not much in the area of hops but overall very drinkable and refreshing. JCW (1262), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2003 Looks like a ESB, orangish brown. Maybe not as spiced as last years was decribed. Flavors were malt, with notes of orange, coriander and nutmeg. Balanced finish. Good spice ale. TheTsunami (162), Queen Creek, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 24, 2003 The original version of the winter warmer. Not for those that aren't into heavily spiced beers. Nose of spices and orange. Follows thru in the flavor. Very unique. Of the 3 years I have had, I think the 2001 version was the best. edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA
