Poured a medium to deeper and cloudy amber color with a large sized off white head. Aromas of grapefruit, pine, oranges and caramel. Tastes of pine, caramel, and citrus (grapefruit and orange peels). This one was nice and bitter with a malty backbone. Alcohol content well hidden. Nice IIPA... CaptainCougar (5458), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 20, 2007 Sampled from a growler on 8/26/06: Pours a clear copper orange with a thin, wispy white head. Aroma of sweet, toasty caramel and big, fresh citrusy piny hoppiness. Body starts with a viscous sweet caramel maltiness, nicely-balanced with a more bitter, fresh, resiny hop presence toward a bittersweet, slightly warming grapefruity finish. A pretty good double IPA. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 6, 2007 Draft at Smokehouse. Poured clear copper color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sour citrus hop aroma. Medium body with slick texture. Medium bitter flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew. BBB63 (4229), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 21, 2007 From a growler at DLD: A slightly hazed coppery hue with a small but lasting foamy white head and good lace. The nose is pure hop wonderfulness with massive resiny and citric aromas, pepper and clove, and just a hint of bready malt. The taste starts bitter and never backed off, a tour de force of hop bitterness. Name your hop characteristic and it is in there! (resin, leafy, pine, clove, grass, metallic, grapefruity, pineapple, etc...). If there is any malt character on the palate it only shows with a biscuit note on the aftertaste along with a huge astringent punch. The mouth feel is aggressive and sharp, dry and powdery, slightly warming with the alcohol mostly hidden. A big beer for the hopheads! Thanks Cow-lumbus crew for the chance to taste this. goldtwins (4080), Nesconset, New York, USA
