hazy amber, big white head, lots of lace, huge complex hop aroma, creamy body, huge hop flavor on a nice sweet malt base, wonderful interplay between the big hop flavor and the malt sweetness

Poured a medium and lightly hazy golden color wtih an averaged sized white head. Aromas of stronger pine with some citrus and caramel. Tastes follow. Had a floral / hop leafiness to the tastes too. On the balance scale, this was definitely more hoppy than malty. Enjoyable (thanks Scott!). CaptainCougar (5494), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Big, fresh piny and grapefruity hoppy aroma has some toasty sweet caramel notes. Starts with a sweet, sticky pale maltiness with some toffee and earthy hoppy bitterness with more floral piny flavor hops. Nicely balanced, fresh and enjoyable. Tmoney99 (4749), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Huge hop foward aroma of citrus and pine and then a big dirty sweaty hop aroma. The flavor was big with malt, hops and bitterness from the very start to the finish. Long bitter finish. egajdzis (3626), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 5, 2007 Poured an orange amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, citrus, toasted dough, caramel malts, and floral hops. Taste was dry, bitter, skunky herb, with light grapefruit, and slight alcohol in the finish. Really nice, somewhat different IIPA. Dickinsonbeer (3494), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Had a growler last night- thanks to Puddintane. Pours a very hazy dirty deep orange with a thinning off white head and some lace. Aroma is very resinous, and sappy- pine, cedar, citrusy and grapefruit rind with a thick syrupy malt backbone. Sweetness form the malt is still dominated by craploads of hop juice,- more resin pine needle, sap, light cold smokey harsh hoppiness and a tacky sticky bitterness- high cohumulone. Finishes nice and smooth and easy dirnking despite the fact this must be high alcohol. Thanks again Dave!!! TomDecapolis (3176), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a lightly hazy golden orange with an average off white creamy/bubbly head that sustained and left lots of spotty lacing. Aroma of citrus, pine...like a whole handful of hop pellets. Hints of some caramel malts hidden in there as well. Flavor of upfront bitterness, grapefruit and pine. Not a whole lot of malt in there. Lacking the sweetness I was looking for in a Double IPA. Still great hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. Orange burps.
