Commercial Description:
As the most passionate of you know, there is a serious worldwide hop shortage. A major warehouse fire and several climatic catastrophies have created the perfect storm that means a dearth of hops. We aren't sitting still, though. Some of your favorite ales may not be brewed as often as they have in the past, but we endevour to come up with new treasures, using whatever we can get our hands on. Our first effort is an IPA. We call it Hop Envy because we think you'll like this offering so much, those breweries without our hops might get a little envious. Hop shortage? There's no shortage of hops here!

opaque light burnt orange, wispy white head, streaks of patterned lace, huge sweet citrus hop aroma with the perfect sugary grapefruit character, creamy body, lots of citrus flavor, touch of tangerine sweetness, light bitterness keeps the balance but allows the hop flavor be the star of the show,

Growler: Pours a hazy dark golden with a well-lacing froth of white head. Aroma of big, fresh grapefruity citrusy and grassy hops and some pale malt. Body starts semi-sweet with a lot of crisp grassy grapefruity bittering and flavor hops toward a thinner bittersweet finish. A pretty nice IPA.

Draft at Alehouse #1. Poured hazy copper with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sour citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. moderate to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium smooth bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. A standout beer.

My 50th Barley’s beer! Firkin at Ale House #1. The beer is a hazy yellow-orange color with a medium thin and foamy off-white head that has decent retention. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is grassy hops with touches of malt and citrus. Medium-bodied with a subdued and moderately bitter hops character. Some earthy malt and citrus flavors are evident as well. The finish is dry and somewhat hoppy with a lingering bitter hops aftertaste. Pretty darn good overall, and I am curious to try the tower version at some point.

Appearance: Pours a hazy, pale orange body topped with a thin, white ring of bubbles. Smell: Aromatic hop scent of citric-smelling citrus and pine needles. Taste: Scant pale maltiness quickly turns to hops with flavors of grapefruit rinds and resinous pine along with a resounding bitterness. Dry finish with a long, lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A solid IPA with a sharp, snappy hop bitterness.

On firkin @ the Alehouse: Pours a hazy orange gold with a loose frothy off white head. Aroma, citrus, and floral hops, pale bready malts. Flavor, citrus, oranges, floral notes, pale malty, very dry, with some good bitterness. Very tasty beer.
