It pours a pale chestnut colored beer with a decent head. Both nose and taste are mainly of figs. Some caramel and raisins showing up. Medium bodied. Sweet. Buttery. Slightly sour. Not a lot of bitterness. Dry malty finish with hints of raisins and lemon. beerlady (249), lucerne, Switzerland Mar 23, 2007 reddish-dark chestnut colour

troyc (1020), Lubbock, Texas, USA Jul 26, 2006 (Bottle) At a bar in Bern. Pours brown with an off-white head. Sweet, caramel flavoring. Not very balanced, but refreshing. rauchbier (2877), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Jan 4, 2004 Bottled. Golden brown, poor white head and low condition. Caramel and peardrops dominate the aroma, but in the mouth it becomes much more pilsnerlike with a fair amount of hop bitterness and just a little caramel apparent. Finish becomes dry with hints of roasted barley. Seems cluttered and contrived.
