Commercial Description:
The Baron Hefe-Weisse has a pale straw to dark reddish-gold in color with a vanilla and clove aroma. It has the soft, grainy flavor of wheat and a tart character from yeast and high carbonation. These are refreshing, fast-maturing beers that are lightly hopped. This style is a traditional wheat-based beer from Southern Germany

Cloudyish yellow with light banana aroma notes that translate into a mildly sour banana flavor. Easy drinking, medium-bodied, and moderately flavored, though lack complexity. Mild wheatiness.

5oz Taster - Baron Brewery - Seattle, WA
Aroma – Deep wheat malt aroma with some fruit aroma lingering.
Appearance – Golden in color, thin head and clear.
Flavor – Huge wheat malt flavor. This was a very nice German style wheat beer.
Palate – Good Mouthfeel, nice texture with a dry finish.
Overall – A very nice wheat beer. There was a banana flavor to this beer as it should have. This was a nice beer to finish the day.

Draft at King’s Hardware in Ballard, WA. I like the effort here to make a Bavarian style wheat beer, but I cannot rate on effort alone. Upon first view, the beer was a nice cloudy yellow, with little head. FIrst aroma was butterscotch. This beer was infected, as the butterscotch overpowered the Bavarian characteristics I was excited for. I could taste some slight clove and banana. It was also extremely carbonated reminiscient of their pasteurized imported German counterparts. Second taste of this beer gives a lot better impression. Obviously it was an issue at the bar. Second tasting rendered this beer to be a nice rendition of a Bavarian Wheat. Clovey with some wheat notes and a crisp lemon finish. It was not overcarbonated, but rather smooth. Good stuff.

Draught, at the brewery
Insanely sedimented. Massive fruity aroma. Bready, doughy, sweaty notes - puts the hefe in Hefe-Weiss. Quite tart, too, wheaty, with light phenols and sweat. Like a lot of their beers, it has a rustic edge.

I had this one on tap at Floyd’s in Seattle. It had a cloudy, light-gold appearance. It had a wheaty flavor that dominated with hardly any hopping. There was a citrus flavor that eventually came through. All in all, not a bad beer.

on tap at the college inn in seattle. hazy golden with a lasting craterous head. some vanilla and fresh wheat in the aroma, a little biscuity, not as thin as most american hefeweizens with some decent salty sourness in the finish
