Smells of cocoa, chocolate and roasted malt. Tastes of chocolate and roasted malt. Good, but a far cry from a doppelbock. JPDIPSO (4906), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 8, 2007 Dark brown color with a moderate, small tight bubbled head. Wet grain aromas. Toasted malt and light coffee in the background. Seems somewhat thin ans slightly watery in feel. Light toasted malt and a dry floral hops component in the flavors. The strength is not evident. Light roasted malt finish. Seems to get a touch thicker as it warms. More like a strong dunkel verses a doppel. Not enough residual sugars to add the malt flavors and a rich thickness. Thanks to Andre’ for this one. BückDich (4848), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 6, 2005 Dark black brown, some lacing. Nose of light sweet spice and moderate roast, a little coffee and dry notes. The flavor is nutty and chocolaty, lots of coffee; like canned Japanese coffee, which I also tried today. The finish is chewy and lightly dry, overall it’s pretty nice. goldtwins (4080), Nesconset, New York, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 8, 2009 Picked up a single 22-oz bomber at Bottleworks in Seattle, WA. Pours a clear reddish copper brew with a creamy off-white that quickly dissipates and leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of citrus and fruity character, a hint of caramel malt, some roasted nuts and toffee. Taste is medium to full bodied, with more flavors of roasted nuts, caramel, a hint of toffee and some yeast. Finish is slightly metallic slightly dry along with aftertastes of caramel, and roasted nuts.
