Commercial Description:
The Liberator is a deep amber to dark brown colored beer with a rich and complex malty flavor. It has a touch of roast character and no hop flavor. Hop bitterness is generally only high enough to balance the malt flavors to allow moderate sweetness in the finish. This is a Bavarian specialty that is most closely associated with serving in the Winter and Spring Seasons.

Y’alls nuts. Baron comes through like a mofo with the Liberator. Quite possibly the best doppelbock I have ever had. It’s flavors are subtle and balanced and there’s not much to the finish... because it’s a LAGER! If you think this beer is mediocre, you should rethink what it means to be a "beer enthusiast"

This beer is starting to grow on me. It’s dangerously drinkable and will sneak up on you and kick your ass( it has with mine a few times). I would love to see this with some more rich melanoidin sweetness to balance out the roastiness and increase the body. It doesn’t change the fact that I really enjoy drinking a big mug of this beer!

Dark brown with a tan head. Dark wheat and rye bread aromas. Medium body and smooth. Good taste of smooth blackened malts and other yeasty bread grains here. Very easy drinking; not overly sweet, syrupy or alcoholic like some DB’s. Really enjoyed this one.457

12/6/08 On draft at the Winter Brewfest, Seattle, Wa. Aroma is soft, with sweet roast but no classic Doppelbock sourness. Appearance is dark brown with a moderate maintained cream colored head. Flavor is roast malt forward with light bittering and fruity sweetness. Overall, the lack of the slight classic sourness actually helps this brew so well.

Specialy released only to Bottleworks in Seattle 22 oz bottle into a Dopplebock glass. Pours a very thick and dark brown borderlining black with a very small tan head. Hints of dark cocoa, nuts, and smaller hints of coffee make up the aroma. Dark malt and nuts make up the start of this one. It slides gently into a blast of dark cocoa chocolate which then finishes on a very deep coffee note. Pretty dry through out. The coffee lingers for a minute. More coffee comes out as it warms. Overall a good, easy drinking (especially for 7.5%), and well rounded dopplebock.

Dark black brown, some lacing. Nose of light sweet spice and moderate roast, a little coffee and dry notes. The flavor is nutty and chocolaty, lots of coffee; like canned Japanese coffee, which I also tried today. The finish is chewy and lightly dry, overall it’s pretty nice.

22oz Bomber - 99 Bottles - Federal Way, WA
Aroma – Deep roasty malt aroma. The spices and flavors where very rich.
Appearance – Dark brown, clear with a thin tan head.
Flavor – A deep malty flavor with some great spices in there also. I loved the deep flavors of the beer as it warmed up.
Palate – A deep rich beer with some great flavors on the tounge. This finished quite nice.
Overall –A great Doppel I liked this beer very much. Lots of after esters and spices left for the great experience. A great winter style brew.

Picked up a single 22-oz bomber at Bottleworks in Seattle, WA. Pours a clear reddish copper brew with a creamy off-white that quickly dissipates and leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of citrus and fruity character, a hint of caramel malt, some roasted nuts and toffee. Taste is medium to full bodied, with more flavors of roasted nuts, caramel, a hint of toffee and some yeast. Finish is slightly metallic slightly dry along with aftertastes of caramel, and roasted nuts.
