22oz bottle. Bottle stamped Limited Edition 2008. Poured a deep brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of smoked meats, roasty, caramel, chocolate, and some nuts. Tastes of dark tart cherries, lighter smokiness, and some caramel. Not sure if the tartness was intentional, but it did grow on me and since I liked it, I’m not going to knock it for it. Alcohol content well hidden. Smokiness was subtle all the way around.

Bottle: Thanks Flaco Alto! Pours deep brown/amber with a wispy tan head. Meaty smoky aroma- a touch ashy with peat-like notes and firewood. A bit thin and slick bodied. The flavor is pretty off. Tastes a bit infected. A very light acetic flavor masks what malt & smoke is in the profile. I’d wanna try a fresher/different bottle.

Bottle shared by PilsnerPeter. Very dry smoke aroma, some nutty caramel. Light hammy smoke and cherry, a very mild hoppiness. Decent enough. Doesn’t quite get the smokiness right, tastes very much like liquid smoke rather than the real thing, as so many American examples do.

Poured a clear very deep golden brown color and small off-white head. The aroma was fairly smoky with some raisin notes poking out. Smoky tart raisin flavor. Medium bodied.

Thanks to PP for sharing. Mostly clear dark brown with a thin head. Aroma starts off with a notice that it is somehwat infected since there is a tart acidity along with some laidback toasty and dark malts- some burnt toast, baked bread and a bit of grape and wood tannin smoke is more of a slight medicinal and phenolic meatiness. Some dark toasty malt sweetnes supfront but that fades to tart acidity towards the end but there is some maple syruip flavors left over whiel the sweetness there has gone as well- phenolic smokey sharp and again slight tart finish. Meh.

Thanks to PilsnerPeter for sharing - dark brown pour - huge smoke in the nose, with cherry and caramel behind it, but a that strong smokiness really clings to the nostrils - nice - kind of downhill after that - moderately tart, with a lot of smoked meat/bacon flavor - doughy through the middle - fairly light, but the tartness tasted, to me, like the beer was slightly infected (but it somehow worked, to an extent) - still an interesting experience, though.

22 oz. bottle shared by PilsnerPeter. Pours very dark brown, nearly black, with a brown head. Very pleasant aroma of smoked meat and sweet malt. The flavor is quite similar to the aroma with smoked meat and malt. About my only complaint here, and it is minor, is that this is perhaps a bit too light-bodied to carry such strong flavors. Otherwise, I thought this beer was quite good.

Bottle shared by pilsnerpeter. Deep brown black beer. Deep rich smokiness and a fairly woody aroma as well. Rich sweet molasses aroma. Flavour is pretty intense. Rich and tarry with a little bit of salty smokiness. The flavour has a little bit of tartness that I think works surprisingly well. It’s lean and rich at the same time. Rich salty and sweet. I like it.
