Gregis (848), Overland Park, Kansas, USA May 7, 2008 Pours a dark, clear copper with about a finger of beige head which quickly disappears leaving only a thin ring of bubbles clinging to the edge of the glass. The nose is of somewhat nutty caramel malt and carob. Light to medium-bodied and slick with a lingering, lightly toasted finish. The flavor more-or-less follows the nose with nutty and slightly fruity caramel malt and a supporting note of carob leading to a pleasant, toasty finish. This is so much better than their "ESB" (which I drank earlier today) that I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I would drink this again.
Guinness4Duff (408), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA Jul 12, 2008 Bottle. Deep amber pour with a thick off white head. Aroma has some caramel and a bit of yeast to it. Flavor has a good caramel base and a strange other taste, apparently thats wattle seed. Something different which I always like to find, but I probably wouldnt buy this again. KnN (205), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Jul 10, 2008 Pours a kind of sad looking watery brown with an off white head and a bit of carbonation. Smell is a little nutty with some decent malt characteristics. I must not like wattle seeds though because the flavor started as interesting and then quickly degraded into undrinkable as the beer warmed. This was a sink pour unfortunately. Immy (1477), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jul 4, 2008 12 oz bottle from aracauna - thanks Jacob! Pretty beer - clear, coppery amber pour with a beige head. Very sweet malty nose, nutty and sugary. Sweet caramel and brown sugar flavors, some light berry and an herbal notes. Medium body that actually comes off seeming thicker than it is. Very drinkable. dwaggs2 (11), Warrensburg, Missouri, USA Jul 3, 2008 Poured a nice amber color with a small white head. The head disappeared quickly and left no lacing. Nice beer that had hints of chocolate and carmel. Can be a bit pricey. Not a bad drink though. This is definately a different beer then I have tasted. Aubrey (2554), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 1, 2008 Deep copper-amber. Medium body; moderate carbonation. Rich and sweet caramel flavor. Malts also carried notes of toast and rye-like grains. Lesser notes of chocolate and coffee. Herbal, flowery hops were mellow yet pleasant. Like others, I’ve never heard of wattle seed before ... but I think I like it.
