Aubrey (2614), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 1, 2008 Deep copper-amber. Medium body; moderate carbonation. Rich and sweet caramel flavor. Malts also carried notes of toast and rye-like grains. Lesser notes of chocolate and coffee. Herbal, flowery hops were mellow yet pleasant. Like others, I’ve never heard of wattle seed before ... but I think I like it.
JCB (1067), Durham, North Carolina, USA Oct 6, 2008 Bottle shared by durhambeer - thanks, Bob! Fruity, dark orange, with a modest head. I confess to not knowing what watte seed was prior to reading about the beer I’d aready consumed. But my taste told me that this was an average red ale with sweet malts and a trace of sour mixed in with some chocoate, honey, and nut flavors. durhambeer (535), Durham, USA Oct 5, 2008 Rich brown clear pour, off white head. Distinctively odd sour malty aroma. Nutella (chocolate and hazelnut). Some Bit O’Honey and bitter toffee. Some wattle seed, I guess, that adds a distinctively roasty nut/seed taste. Interesting. Tejas (606), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 4, 2008 Sweet and nutty. I guess that’s wattle seed, whatever the fuck that is? Finishes soapy. Not good. Did look good though. emacgee (1133), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Oct 3, 2008 Pours a red copper with a thin fizzy light tan head. The nose is nutty, earthy, sweet, malty, lightly spiced. The flavor is malty, sweet, earthy, nutty/grainy malt, light leafy hops, some bitter bite. The wattle seed comes through a little bit but definitely isnt overpowering. wheelz843 (34), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Oct 1, 2008 bottle. was a bit thrown off by the smell but the overall taste was quite good. worth trying again.
