Commercial Description:
In the early 20th century, Cincinnati was presided over by the strong armed political power broker George "Boss" Cox. Holding court high above an Over-The-Rhine saloon, "Boss" Cox's authoritative grip on the city could often be relaxed with a smoked sausage and a hearty brew. Our Double Dark IPA infuses a bold, delicious malty character with copious amounts of American and European hop bitterness. There's a new boss in town. Malts: 2-row, Munich, Carapils, and Caramel ;Hops: Cluster, Cascade, Czech Saaz ;Color: Ruby ;Food Complement: Steak, prime rib, venison, spicy dishes

Strong fruity and citrus aroma with a tandelizing mouth feel. Pours a thick strong brown color with a medium creamy head. Not as hoppy as I would like it but it delievers a good expectation of what a IPA should taste like. They say a double IPA, that might be how it is brewed, but I just don’t taste all that extra work they said when this was brewed, but it is good.

Dark amber color. Appears to be a dark porter or a stout. Light head that dissapated quickly. Pine hop aroma with malt mixed in. Comple flavor of caramel and chocolate malt with some hops present. Alcohol is noticeable. More malts than hops. Not bad but this is for a "one beer" evening.

Dark amber. Heavy malts, citrus and other fruit, light roasted malts in the aroma. I didn’t think the malts and hops blended well in the flavor and had a tough time drinking the entire bottle. Not a bad beer but I wish they chose a better hop-malt combination.

Dark caramel with big, foamy tan head / Big malt and cooked fruit nose / Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, touch of sweetness, with hops providing structure for bigger, dominating malts / Flavors of toasted malts, caramel and cooked, cloying grapefruit / Mediocre, with decent palate paired with clumsy flavor profile.

Bomber. Poured clear deeper ruddy brown with a sticky, well-retained cap of beige head.. looked quite nice. The aroma picked up a rich sweetness that I really enjoyed (chocolates, toasted caramel, and treacle) with drier pine and dark citrus hoppage.. the focus was really on the malts here, and I dug it. The flavor wasn’t quite as solid.. lots of residual sugar in the form of caramel and toffee, which was amplified by some rough alcohol (especially at the back).. bitterness was moderate with some herbal and dark fruity presence (but a defining or well-balanced character was never achieved).. finished warm and bitter. Medium-bodied with low carbonation and a slow, building bitterness throughout.. better in the aroma than the flavor.
