Commercial Description:
Early Cincinnati brewers shipping their beers into Tennessee would generously hop their beer to prevent spoilage during the long, arduous trip over the Cumberland Trail. It’s been said that few barrels ever actually made it into Tennessee, as they were traded away for coonskin caps or simply enjoyed along the way! This classic India Pale Ale is a somewhat fruity brew, with an aggressive hop finish. To the hopheads of the world: we’ve brewed this one for you!

Crystal clear amber/rust color with a viscous off white head. Nice floral hop, light fruity aroma. Medium body with light carbonation. Bitter citrus and floral hop flavors on a heavy sweet caramel malt base brew. Enjoyed this one.

Light copper, big fluffy head, heavy lace. Crisp, hoppy aroma. Fizzy, alcoholic. Floral bitter hops, like an IPA, but not as biting or acidic and as thick. Not bad, I’ll take an IPA instead

Consumed at 50 degrees. It has a decent aroma and decent flavor, but it is pretty static. Not anything exciting and the hop flavor is quite fleeting. I would drink it against other domestics, but not much else.

22oz bomber bottle. A crisp, fresh, and clean APA. Hazy orange-tan color with a foamy head. Pleasantly assertive Cascade hop presence balances out the light, sweet malt. Straightforward quality stuff, would make a great session beer around the Barrel House I’m sure. Sweet, crisp, cooling mouthfeel. Good beer.

Big bomber, thought it was from the Cumberland brewpub in Louisville when I bought it. Clear amber with a large rocky slowly diminishing and annoying head that looks a bit like meringue. Grassy aroma with some mild citrus and grain mixed in. Taste of cascade hops, cereal grains with a sweet citrus lively finish. Kind of bland.

From bottle. Poured clear orange with decent white head. Floral hops and citrus nose and flavor. Full bodied with nice mild spicy hop finish.

Pours amber in color with a nice fluffy inch of head. Smell is bittering hops. Taste is bittering hops and a bit of a butterscotch flavor. The hops have more of a bittering mouthfeel than a bitter flavor. You can feel it more than you can taste it. Plenty of nice webbing on the glass. This a full bodied and incredibly creamy, smooth pale ale. That is its best quality. The hopping could be more flavorful, but it’s nice to see Barrel House back to putting out decent beer.

My first time trying some beer from this brewery, and I was quite impressed: Pours a bright clear orange colour with a medium sized white head. Floral in every aspect, aroma is pleasently sweet with grapefruit on the nose. Taste is citrusy, off dry and generous with hops and slight spicey notes.
