Very citrusy aroma and a decent malt backbone in the flavor. Pretty one dimensional. Not a bad beer but nothing great. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 26, 2007 22 oz bottle pours a honey amber body with a three finger eggshell head. Patch lacing drapes the glass. Aroma is caramel and bready malt. Restrained hops are pine and grapefruit. Palate is creamy, with good carbonation atop a medium body. Taste is toffee and caramelbready malt edged by a nice Cascades hops bitterness. Hops are more assertive in the taste than the aroma. Very sessionable with the low abv but a bit timid. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 23, 2007 Thanks to Cewldre for this one as part of Mystery Swap 2.0. The pour was hazy orangy/deep coppery with 2-finger off-white head. Aroma of bready caramel malt, hopcitrus, tangerine, melon. Tastes citric, hoppy, not especially malty, with a lot of finishing tangerine and bready notes. CaptainCougar (5517), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 21, 2007 Bottle sampled on 10/23/06: Pours a clear copper bronze with a thin coating of wispy-lacing white head. Fresh piny hoppy aroma on top of lightly toasted pale malt. Starts thinner, but lightly sweet fading toward a hoppier bittersweet finish. Smooth and drinkable, decently-balanced APA. illinismitty (1799), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 16, 2007 Bottle from Party Source in Bellevue, KY. Pours translucent orange copper with a medium off white head. Citrusy hop aroma with some bready maltiness in the background. Initial balanced flavor of caramel, toffee, and tangerine. Bitter finish is slightly dry and grassy, with a pleasant and medium spicy hop bite. Perhaps more citrus (orange, tangerine) coming out on the finish. This is hoppy for an APA. If you want more hops, you have to step up to an IPA folks. Yet another well done beer from Barrel House. Why these guys don’t get a little more love on this site is beyond me. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA
