RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jul 4, 2008 Draft. Aroma: Toasty/bready with some nice caramel. Very light fruitiness (grapes) as it warms. Appearance: Dark brown in color with small ruby highlights. Off-white head was full and foamy with good retention. Fair lacing. Flavor: Nice maltiness with notes of bread, caramel, and light nuttiness. Some grapey fruitiness. Finishes fairly clean. Palate: Mouthfeel doesn’t feel as full as it should. Moderate carbonation. Light alcohol warming in back of mouth. Overall: This was pretty good. Light mouthfeel and a lack of flavor depth would be my only complaints.
auderale (466), Fairchild AFB, Washington, USA Jun 8, 2008 Draft: Dark brown colored pour with light brown head. Sweet, caramely, malty aroma. Roasted malts, slightly sweet finish. Not bad. Tmoney99 (3620), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Apr 1, 2008 Draft in growler from Party Town, KY. Poured dark reddish brown with a moderate light brown frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Good caramel toasted tart fruit aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Good well balanced roasted bittersweet flavor with a moderate smooth balanced finish of moderate to long duration. Good doppelbock. bethmatt0421 (289), Covington, Kentucky, USA Mar 15, 2008 Updated: Mar 17, 2008Draft from Fries Cafe. Retired? A thick dark malt body only makes this light caramel, wheat bready concochtion better. Not to bad. Beer Guy99 (250), Maineville, Ohio, USA Feb 11, 2003 Yes, this one is nice. Rich and high octane. They've brewed a variety of bock beers at Barrel House for the annual BockFest in Cincinnati. The alcohol laws in Ohio are making Barrel House's beers even more flavorful than before.
