Commercial Description:
This golden Lager is brewed using a traditional German decoction mash. By decoction mashing, we are able to achieve a full malt profile that is complemented by the addition of spicy German hops. We condition our Dortmunder for a full eight weeks which allows the malt and hop characteristics within the beer to fuse together. All of these steps are evident in our final product: a medium- bodied golden lager showcasing a delicious malt flavor balanced with a Noble hop character. Malts: 2- Row, Munich 10L, Carapils Hops: Cluster, Hallertau, Tettnang

Concentrated urine color. Smell of bananas, malt, caramel and hints of bread and flowers. Taste of malt, sweet caramel, bananas and little hops. The malt overpowers the hops! Light but enjoyable.

Shigadeyo so politely took this off my wants list, and it arrived in a full styro shipper. Pours amber gold with a nice pillowy white head. Nice sweet bready and lemon aroma. Lots of carbonation, but the texture of the bubbles are fine. Initial flavor is grainy and toasty, that transitions to some sweet lemon, honey and lagery flavors. Soft and nicely balanced spicy hop bitterness on the finish, with accents of biscuit. The is very easy to drink. Simple but complex. I am not an expert on the style, but I can’t really find any flaws. I would love to try one of these fresh from the brewery. Another example of an under rated beer because of its style.

Grain maltiness main characteristic of aroma, beer feels highly charged, like its made with hard water, hops hard to detect, should be a little more evident,an ok dortmunder. Thanks Kingpin

Bottle from WBC.Pours a clear golden piss color with a fine ring of bubbles around the glass. Nose is funky doughy,is that those weird European Hops?? Most Eastern European brews have that same aroma, skunky almost. Still has that skiunky flacor that I just can’t get past.

22 ounce bottle from Steve’s on Mineral Point Road, Madison WI (December 2006), served a bit below cellar temperature from a Christoffel glass. Pale, bubbly and very clear amber-gold with a generous roiling fluffy head that bubbles furiously but dies quickly leaving small flecks of lace.....malty aroma is rather faint, a bit of soft yeasty sourdough to go with the light grassy hops....body is delightfully rounded, malts are dominant and overpowering at first, bready and lightly honey-sweet, a bit of light toast, but around midpalate just as it’s beginning to feel too full a nice dose of floral, dry grassy hops shows up and kills just enough of the sweetness to make for a refreshing, quaffable finish....a touch salty/briny, a hint of the sea in this otherwise landlocked beer of the wildflower-strewn Bavarian hills....a soft and just-hinted-at mineralic quality at the end....a refreshing libation at the end of a hard day.

04.12.06 Bomber thanks to OhioDad (and Dickinsonbeer). Mostly clear pale straw with smallish but lasting white head and teeny bits strewn throughout. Mild malty aromas like caramel dipped ripe grains, sourdough, saltine. Medium-light body with beautiful eff that keeps it feeling fluffy (huh?) but doesn’t interfere with the smack of honey sweet malt goodness and quick grassy bite in the end. What a nice beer.

sampled with Beerdrenched. Pours moderate amber with an off-white head. The aroma is malty with toasted pale malt and light veggie. Overall pretty light aroma. Medium body with lots of carbonation. The taste startw with musty caramel with some spice. The finish has some sourness and more spice. Fair dortmunder at best. (original rating 6/3/6/3/13 - 3.1) Rerate notes - Thankfully I was able to sample a fresh bottle. The pour was more golden this time around. The veggie aspect was going and it was more creamy and rich. The aroma was much more pronounced as well. The flavor started with creamy smooth malt with some nuttiness - lots of toasted malt in here. The finish has some hoppiness that is spicy, no sourness. A very well constructed and enjoyable dortmunder.

bottle-thanks to vyvvy for sharing this highly rated beer for the style. pours light copper with a soapy white head. burnt veggie nose with some notes of sour vinegar, which seem off to me. some light grains on the flavors with the sourness as well. maybe an old bottle? Toasted almond on the finish. palate is full with little carbonation for the style. pretty boring and un-interesting.
