Commercial Description:
This golden Lager is brewed using a traditional German decoction mash. By decoction mashing, we are able to achieve a full malt profile that is complemented by the addition of spicy German hops. We condition our Dortmunder for a full eight weeks which allows the malt and hop characteristics within the beer to fuse together. All of these steps are evident in our final product: a medium- bodied golden lager showcasing a delicious malt flavor balanced with a Noble hop character. Malts: 2- Row, Munich 10L, Carapils Hops: Cluster, Hallertau, Tettnang

From a 22 oz. bomber bottle with no freshness date, a blurb along the right side of label, malt/hop and appearance info on the bottom of label, sampled at cellar temperature in a lager glass. Poured a clear reddish orange hued lager golden with a frothy, foamy white head that slowly dissipates into a thin sudsy lacing, a light amount of laced sticking, a good dortmunder appearance. A nice Noble hop nose, musty grass, herbal and spicy, with a sweet biscuity malt backing. Good medium carbonation, a few tiny bubbles flow from bottom to top during the whole duration, and a crisp, dry, silky smooth medium bodied mouthfeel, for me, pretty close to perfect for the style. This is a quite quaffable lager, a good hop presence, herbal and spicy with a soft grassy bitterness at the end, a light amount of sour apple and citrus, sweet, sugary pilsener malts, a dry biscuity that helps mellow out some of the sweetness, and a dry, crisp finish, the hops do a good job of cleansing the palate for the next sip. I love the Dortmunder lager style to begin with and this hits all the nails on their heads with me, makes me want to do a side by side comparison with the Great Lakes Gold, another great Dortmunder, very recommended, especially on a hot, muggy day.

Bottle (650ml) shared at ’Biegaman’s Summer Gathering’ -- my bottle courtesy of lewis13. pours a clear yellow-gold with an average size diminishing white head. Simple aroma of mostly caramel malt along with some breadyness, llight grassy hops and faint fruit. Flavour’s a little sweet with caramel malt, fruit and some light hops. Medium bodied. A pretty good version of the style, I enjoyed it.

22 oz bottle - Pours slightly hazy gold with a two finger head that lingers for awhile. It has a light, malty aroma. The taste is of bready malt sweetness that’s well balanced by mild, crisp hops. Medium bodied and lightly carbonated, this beer slides smoothly over the palate and finishes dry and refreshing. Nice session brew.

22 oz bottle, via nolankowal. Pours a clear yellow gold body with lots of visible carbonation supporting a one finger fizzy white head for most of the duration of the glass. Aroma is bready malt with a light hoppiness. None of the corn/adjunct notes present in so many Dorts. The flavor profile is quite clean and crisp with a moderate Noble hop profile. Finishes equally clean with a slight, quite acceptable, level of DMS. Mouthfeel is light bodied and airy up front finishing with a slight doughy stickiness. Moderate fizzy carbonation. Really a pretty nice Dortmunder. One of the best domestic examples I’ve had.

22oz bottle, no date. Pours a clear honey golden with a two finger whitish slightly yellowish head, very good retention. Aroma of sugar cookie, biscuits and sweet malts, light spicy hops and a little earth. Flavor was much the same--the hops complement the biscuity malts and sugar cookie very well. Minimal bitterness at best. Moderate carbonation with a light body. Very good beer.

Lightly Cloudy Orange with Brown Hue and White Head. Some Light Sweet Malt Coming Up to the Nose. Flavor is, as it should be, very subtle, very inviting. Wonderful Even Malt Notes...Light Sweet Grains, Subtle English Hops...This I Could Session All Summer Long.

Shared a 22 oz bottle with Brewfiend at Cellars Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a amber brown brew with an off-white head. Dissolves faste with a fair lacing. Aroma of caramel, sourbough, some light lawn grass (maybe bluegrass), honey, and soda crackers. Taste is bready and light with a mild bitterness. The aftertaste is a little vegetable-ish and salty.
