Gotta thank Ohiodad for hooking me up with a couple bombers. Pours a briliant medium gold to very light copper- a couple degrees darker than a helles. Pours with lively carbonation (yet stays very smooth in the mouth) and a pure white medium sized head which lasts and leaves great lace. Aroma is initially malty- bready pils malt and very light carapils sweetness then after a minute and a deep initial whiff the herbal german hops come through pretty nicely and balances the malt perfectly. Flavor is a touch of crackery malts, bready fresh pils malts, very light crystal or carapils, mixed with an herbal slightly spicy hop character and finishes with a zesty bitterness. Very clean and crisp finish and is very thirst quenching. Great summer or anytime beer. Fantastic representation of the style. I wish more brewers would try this style. Thanks again Scott! Sweet malt and light hops. This beer is very well balanced and the flavor works really well. Honey, apples, pear, wheat. Works very well. Popped this beer thinking, "i just need to drink this" and now I am very glad I did. This is quite quaffable for its 4.5abv. Very impressed with this beer. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 2, 2007 Bomber from Cewldre. Yellow gold color with nice size head. The aroma was of sweet malt and hallertau hops. The taste was fabulous. Sweet cookie dough malt taste with nice lite hallertau hops in the background. Refreshing. Sticky as it warms. This is a great beer! thomasacross (129), Edina, Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 4, 2007 Bottle (22 fl oz). Most enjoyable. For all intents and purposes, Dortmunder often means "malty and almost boring pale lager" when done by local brewpubs. This is much better crafted: the spicy and hoppy notes are present in the mouth but dissipate strongly on the finish. So while the hops "say hello," this is not a bitter beer. Lovely dark golden color and creamy, frothy head. Well done Barrel House! jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 29, 2007 From a 22 oz. bomber bottle with no freshness date, a blurb along the right side of label, malt/hop and appearance info on the bottom of label, sampled at cellar temperature in a lager glass.
Poured a clear reddish orange hued lager golden with a frothy, foamy white head that slowly dissipates into a thin sudsy lacing, a light amount of laced sticking, a good dortmunder appearance.
A nice Noble hop nose, musty grass, herbal and spicy, with a sweet biscuity malt backing.
Good medium carbonation, a few tiny bubbles flow from bottom to top during the whole duration, and a crisp, dry, silky smooth medium bodied mouthfeel, for me, pretty close to perfect for the style.
This is a quite quaffable lager, a good hop presence, herbal and spicy with a soft grassy bitterness at the end, a light amount of sour apple and citrus, sweet, sugary pilsener malts, a dry biscuity that helps mellow out some of the sweetness, and a dry, crisp finish, the hops do a good job of cleansing the palate for the next sip.
I love the Dortmunder lager style to begin with and this hits all the nails on their heads with me, makes me want to do a side by side comparison with the Great Lakes Gold, another great Dortmunder, very recommended, especially on a hot, muggy day.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 2, 2007 Updated: Feb 4, 2007Shigadeyo so politely took this off my wants list, and it arrived in a full styro shipper. Pours amber gold with a nice pillowy white head. Nice sweet bready and lemon aroma. Lots of carbonation, but the texture of the bubbles are fine. Initial flavor is grainy and toasty, that transitions to some sweet lemon, honey and lagery flavors. Soft and nicely balanced spicy hop bitterness on the finish, with accents of biscuit. The is very easy to drink. Simple but complex. I am not an expert on the style, but I can’t really find any flaws. I would love to try one of these fresh from the brewery. Another example of an under rated beer because of its style. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA

Malty aroma with just a touch of flowery light hops.
Tha flavor is well balanced, a bit of sweetness, but some nice bitterness too.
Smooth, easy drinking. A well done Dortmunder. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 23, 2006 Gorgeous clear gold with lingering tiny-bubbled head. Great bready aroma; sourdough yeastiness. Slight sweetness in the flavor initially then a sourish blast plus the salt and pepper hoppiness with a little floweriness dropped in. Only 4.5% ABV but full of flavor. Slick, almost oily medium body. Great example of the style.
