Commercial Description:
In the hill country of eastern Ohio lie the geological treasures of Old Man's Cave, Conkels Hollow, and Cantwell Cliffs. Our Hefeweizen is a tribute to the natural wonder of these places; an authentic German Weissbier. This delicious beer is unlike anything you've ever tasted before! Hints of clove, banana, and vanilla are some of the flavors produced by the special strain of yeast we use. Because the beer is unfiltered, it becomes cloudy when chilled, in the traditional German way.

Wow...calling this beer a hefe is a stretch. Aroma of battery acid. Pour was a standard medium gold with a one finger white head. Taste was very tart...almost like a weak sour ale. A little too thick in the mouthfeel. Had almost of a vomit aftertaste. Not too good.

Bomber. Lightly hazy medium gold body with a very large white head. Very afst moving carbonation bubbles in the hefe glass. The aroma is surprising lemons with some old plantains and light clove. This aroma almost reminds me of root beer. The taste is over ripe banana and pumpkin bread. There is some clove and nutmeg type spciing in the finish with a hint of sour apples.

Bomber courtesy of yjb. Pours copper and hazy with a thin white head. Smells of wheat, caramel, lemons, cloves, bananas, bubblegum, some earty hints, ginger. Tastes of bubblegum, ginger, caramel and some tartness. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is sweet. Very enjoyable.

Bomber. Poured clear, brighter golden with a short cap of white head. The aroma picked up dusty, banana-ey yeast notes, tangerines, and vanilla with clove spicage.. sweet overall with a nice darker spicy kick. The flavor began with sour wheaty notes and peppery spices on the tip of the tongue.. sweet bananas and scattered light fruits across the middle with a dry white pepper and sweet bubblegum finish.. tasty! Lighter-bodied, dry, and refreshing on the palate with nice balance and a light, but lenghty finish. Enjoyed it!

lightly hazy with a very effervescent white head that fades quickly. nice banana, clove aroma. body is very light and watery. flavors of banana and clove are nice but the thin, watery body holds it back. also has some lemon and a hint of the same green apple sourness that their dortmunder has.

[611-20070914] 22floz (w/ blankboy, jerc, tupalev). Pineapple and strong banana aroma with some wheat and yeast bread. Hazy, orange brown body with a quick foamy white head. Lightly bitter banana flavour has sweet yeasty bread notes. Medium body. Quite nice but a lot of banana.

Bottle: Cloudy orange/golden with a bubbly white head. Sharp nose, filled with crisp lemon peel from the wheat malt. Only slight banana esters are detected as it warms with a swirl. Fizzy carbonation. Nice sharp flavor. Lots of lemony tartness, leaning toward a sharp, almost Berliner-Weisse character. Some green apple skin indications, with only a very subtle banana note in the mid palate as it warms. This is a nice, less sweet rendition of the style which has less banana/clove sweetness, but a more sharp, wheat malt driven profile. Very clean and enjoyable.
