Commercial Description:
In the hill country of eastern Ohio lie the geological treasures of Old Man's Cave, Conkels Hollow, and Cantwell Cliffs. Our Hefeweizen is a tribute to the natural wonder of these places; an authentic German Weissbier. This delicious beer is unlike anything you've ever tasted before! Hints of clove, banana, and vanilla are some of the flavors produced by the special strain of yeast we use. Because the beer is unfiltered, it becomes cloudy when chilled, in the traditional German way.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with OhioDad (thanks!). Poured a medium and slightly cloudy golden color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas on the softer side and consisted of wheat, banana, and spices. Tastes of wheat, spices (stronger than the aroma), banana, and lemons.

22oz bottle-pours a fizzy disappearing off white head and cloudy yellow color. Aroma is lots of fruit, clove/coriander?, yeast. Taste is lots of fruit-some tartness, clove/coriander?, yeast-banana, musty raw wheat. Finishes earthy, barnyard. OK effervescence.

Bottle... Cloudy yellow ale with a large, foamy, white head and excellent retention. Fruity, phenolic aroma of mango, light clove, mild smoke, orange and peach with a whisper of banana. The flavor is very sweet with notes of orange blossom honey, light spice, bubble gum, tropical fruit, peach, apricot and orange puree. No semblance of balance. Medium-bodied with a 2%-milk mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Watery, bland finish.

Official bottle courtesy of cewldre: Pours a hazy bronze with a thin white head. Aroma of spicy clove and sweet wheat with some nice bready German yeast and lots of bubble gum. Body starts with a nice carbonation and sweet doughy wheat and yeast flavor with light clove flavor and more bubble gum. A nice hefeweizen.

Hand bottled sample courtesy of JCW rated on 2/18/05: Pours a murky hazy golden with some yeast in suspension and a thin white coating of head. Aroma is tart and estery, with some banana and lemon citrus. Body starts with a hint of wheat, turning more tart and sour toward the dry clove finish. A little too thin and sour, but otherwise there’s a decent amount of authenticity to this. Thanks John!

Okay pour, an almost clear golden body with a big fizzy head. It smells like wheat flakes with slices of banana and a soapy yeast. The flavor’s better, although the Wheaties element comes across too strong. Ripe bananas with a touch of clove and other warming spices. It has a snappy crisp finish with little aftertaste. Decent enough.

Cloudy dark golden color with a full off-white head. Quite average looking as hefes go. Fairly clean aroma, with light wheat and yeast.Hints of cloves and green bananas. Decent nose, just not a big sniffer. Malt O Meal with a touch of citrus and spice. Light lemon zest comes mid quaff. while the wheat and pale malt stick through the entire journey. A mild sourdough flavor late sip that distracts slightly, but also dries things out. Sort of a welcome/unwelcome thing. Fairly decent domestic german hefe.
