Commercial Description:
In July of 1989, an official sister city relationship was established between Munich, Germany and Cincinnati, Ohio. This marzen style beer celebrates the symbiotic relationship of Munich and Cincinnati through the pairing of American malted barley with German Noble hops. BarrelHouse Oktoberfest is a deep ruby colored lager featuring rich toasty caramel malt flavors with a subdued toffee characteristic. Assertively hopped to maintain a balanced bitterness, BarrelHouse Oktoberfest lager is best enjoyed in liter steins toasting good friends and good times. Prost! "Ein Cincinnati Prosit an Munchen"

Bottle courtesy of alexsdad06. Pours caramel copper with a white head. Smells of caramel, roses, biscuits, some sugary hints. Tastes like candy with a tarte finish.

Bottle, slightly cloudy copper with an off-white head. Light corn, bread and light herbal hops in the nose. Flavor starts with some caramel/bread then a tart, somewhat sour yeasty flavor with some grassy/hay at the end. It’s lightly sour but not in an infected type of way. Thin, watery body with lively carbonation.

22oz bottle, courtesy of miketd. Thanks, Mike! Pours a hazy, orange-amber color; off-white head with patchy lacing. Lightly tart, sourdough and simple sugar in the aroma; a hint of a buttery, creamy note. Medium, slightly sour mouthfeel: seems almost infected without being fully infected; some butter / butterscotch and tart citrus, with a layer of basic sugar behind it all; tart, sugary finish. Not pleasant.

I was excited about this bomber considering Barrel House puts out some nice malty beverages. There is no doubt that this is an Oktoberfest Bier, but it falls short from being a great one. Nutty malt aroma with some strong caramel and a fair amount of noble hops. Clear amber color, small head, and spotty lacing. Medium to light bodied (especially for the style), finishes with a light clean bitterness. Tastes of caramel and roasted nuts. Sugary biscuits and a sharp hop flavor. A little off balance in the flavor. Overall this is decent, but it’s too light for my liking.

Notes from 06 knoxville brewers jam. Some bitter on the finish and just a tad of an off taste. Light nutmeg and malt aroma. A flavor with nice hints of spice. Mouthfeel and carbonation were good as well.
