Commercial Description:
In the old days, runners who made it to third base were rewarded with a mug of beer. This is the way the game was meant to be played; pitchers throwing side-armed and a half barrel on the field. Asa Brainard, the pitcher who led Cincinnati's first professional baseball team to the World Championship in 1869, was paid $1,600. The beer must have been good! Our RedLegg Ale is an American style red ale, the kind you'd find in the hop country of the Pacific Northwest. This deep red ale is a has a great big hop flavor and a slightly sweet finish.

Copper pour with alot of thick creamy head and lace. Sour apples with cherries and a hint of malt. Just a down right sour beer flavor yuck. Foamy and thin. This beer was one sick puppy. I will buy another bottle and drink it just to see what this beer should really be like because I’m sure this was not it.

Pours dark brown and copper with a large cream colored head. Smell is of oats and caramel malts. Very sweet malt taste, thick mouthfeel but lightly carbonated. Sweet malt taste, you would like a little more hop presence for a red ale.

BeerHawk’s Beer Gods in the Boro, aka 1000 Bottles of Beer on the Wall, By God Beer God Gathering, BG1K Tasting. Sample from a bottle thanks to decaturstevo. Hazy red-orange, aroma is raisins, sour cherries, caramel, toffee. Taste is slightly sour cherries, doesn’t seem right, but does have a nice tartness.

Bottle shared by decaturstevo. Poured amber with a frothy off-white head that had some lasting and good lace. The aroma mainly malty but with a slight fruit backing. The flavor is hard to describe as you find some caramel maltiness but also an almost overwhelming tartness. Very different. Light body. Did not really care for this one.

Nice scent. A bit sour tasting, it’s very interesting. One of the better, locally available ambers. Solid Barrel House.

500ml bomber picked up across the river from Cincinnati in Kentucky. Hazy orange brown color with a massive head. Im not crazy about the aroma, sort of soapy, and earthy...in a bad way. Smooth, medium bodied, very watery refreshing mouthfeel. More on the malty side of things, some solid amber malt tastes. Crisp up front, and then quickly fades into a sweet finish. A great session beer, and a solid Red all around.

Pours a dark copper colour with an enormous white head. Crazy carbonation in this beer. Tasty is semi-sweet, flavors of black cherry, red licorice and nuts. Aroma is decent, nothing exciting- rich malts. Truthfully, I expected a little bit more from this beer, mainly on the APA i had not too long ago which i really enjoyed. but this is a pretty typical average amber.

Pours a reddish brown in color with a nice two inches of head on the pour. Smell is slightly hoppy. There is a lot of roasted caramel malt in the flavor. Also accompanied by a good amount of piney hops. This turned out to be more hoppy than I was expecting. And it works. Another decent beer from Barrel House. They’re not setting the world on fire, but starting to put out consistently drinkable beer.
