Commercial Description:
A heavy black Stout distinguished by its dry roasted-barley bitterness and dense creamy head. A touch of coffee roasted locally at the House of Coffee contributes to its rich complex character.

Draft at Red Bank. Of course, it was served too cold. Aroma of coffee beans and dark roasted malt. Flavor of unsweetned bakers chocolate, burnt malts, and coffee. Transitions to a dry, roasty, finish...where the mildly peppery hops join in. Some astringency, but very faint and compliments the beer. I am not a fan of many dry stouts, but this one is good.

On tap (co2) at the brewpub in red bank. Pours a nice black body with a long lasting tan head. Good lace as well. Aroma is of light roasted malts and some coffee, with bits of chocolate. Flavor is well balanced and loaded with flavor like burnt malts, chocolate, resh roasted coffee, and lightly hopppy in the end for a nice bitterness. The actual coffee that they added seemed very subtle compared to many other coffee stouts, but I think the small amount goes very well in this stout.

Appears a dark brown with a light red hue and a creamy tan head. Tons of solid lacing is left all over the glass. Smell is of crystal malt and black patent with some chocolate. Taste is of the same aromas and of cheap ingredients. Mouthfeel is bitter and a bit on the unbalanced sided. The bitterness just seems to last a bit too long for being a dry stout.

Sampled at Stoudts Octoberfest 2005. Jet black body with a mocha head. Nice aromas with roasted malts mixing with coffee and some earthy hops. Extremely clean beer. Bone dry with notes of bakers chocolate, coffee, and some snappy hops. Crispy finish. Very, very good dry stout.

GABF 2005: Deep brown hue with a very good head. The nose detects chocolate, black malt, dusty yeast esters. The taste had a grassy hop note with some mocha and cream undertones, not much depth. The feel is dry and chalky. Arrgg, I expected more from this and it fell flat.

on tap-pours an off white head, with a black color. Aroma is lightly coffee. Taste is an initial burst of coffee followed by nothing and then a bite.
