Amber colour, clear and average size, white, very slightly lasting head with good lacing. Fruity, slightly toffee, malty and very slightly bitter flavour. Softly carbonated and medium-bodied palate with a metallic hint. 19/10/06 johndoughty (2167), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 29, 2006 Yellow and quite malty.Fairly full bodied and left some lacing. I cant really remember cask Bass in its heyday and I
am sure this is nothing like it but it was still a reasonable if uninspiring bitter. andyhite (293), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 24, 2006 it’s a rather smooth with a soapy head. it’s a good beer, but that’s about it. complexity on the palate is lacking. it does have a beautiful pale ale color, but the pro’s do not continue on much past that. i would recommend this beer if you enjoy Sierra Nevada’s Celebration Ale. otherwise, seek alternate route. as far as taste - ’highlandlad’ has a review that is quite accurate. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 16, 2006 Admirably leafy, tea-like hoppy bitterness, but little else of interest. Maybe a dash of nuttiness or rum-like alcohol. Tizerish red-orange body that readily assumes a headless stillness. Becomes slightly more engaging as it warms, but a dour and sanitised interpretation of the cask ale. Magicdave6 (5558), London, Greater London, England
| 1.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Sep 12, 2006 This is terrible stuff. Aroma is lager malts with skunked hops. Taste is similar complete rubbish really bad in every way. highlandlad (1275), Sydney, Australia
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Sep 8, 2006 Dull English bitter. Fairly clean but spoiled by pasteurisation. Coppery hue with a sparse sudsy head. Looked undercarbonated and uninviting. Drab pasteurised aroma - very metallic, with some raisins and a tot of diluted rum. Standard thinnish bitter body with minimal carbonation. Some dark fruits, honey notes and boiled lollies but geez it’s dull. Partially redeemed by a nice chewy back-palate and a lip-smacking herbal bitterness. (500ml bottle from Jim’s Cellars, Crows Nest. Best before Dec 06) RyanTHC (38), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 4, 2006 bottle, nice honey-tea color with good head that sticks arond, a little bitter aftertaste and the flavor keeps me interested although not overly impressed. if its between this and a budwieser or miller you know which to go with. if its between this and another english ale i would go with the other.
