| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 27, 2009 Bass pours a clear amber/gold with a moderate head that lasts but a couple of minutes. Liberal carbonation is evident.
The aroma is faintly hoppy, floral and clean. The aroma is not overpowering yet hits the nose as you take a drink.
The taste is crisp, with a slight bitterness and faint malt sweetness. Bass is not incredibly strong flavored yet has enough there to be enjoyable. It’s not a "lite" beer but is light flavored.
Of all the "light" tasting classic ales, this is the one I like the best. Now, I know...it’s not a great beer. But it is good and it is very refreshing. I see Bass as a good beer, not heavy and with lower alcohol. RHeastings (407), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 26, 2009 Enjoyed from a 24oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a nice light copper to medium amber color, with a nice and fairly long-lasting white head. The nose brings a fairly complex and rich malt character, showing some biscuit notes and caramel. The palate brings straight-forward, but nicely blended malt notes; giving strong hints of caramel, and more subtle ones of biscuit, toffee, and just a touch of raison. The finish is rather full and just a bit sweet, but the flavors quickly leave the mouth, allowing the beer to be fairly refreshing on a warm day. Overall, this is obviously a very popular and widely available beer, but, given my experience, perhaps an underrated one, as well. after4ever (2762), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Sep 25, 2009 500. Another of these sharp-looking square-shouldered UK 500s. Pours a crystal clear coppery medium amber. Loose sudsy grayish head. Plenty of lace coming down the sides of the glass. Sweet, cloying, treacly nose--raisins, figs, caramel, quite a few unexpected notes. These UK ESBs can get awfully sweet. Creamy medium body with very little palpable carb. More sweets on the mid-palate; bready malts with raisins and figs and sticky molasses flavors, along with a sharpness that seems to come out of nowhere. Tastes chemically, this sharpness, whatever it is. Mild finish. 1010 (208), Marysville, Ohio, USA

Decent beer for a mass produced pale ale.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 14, 2009 It’s a good bitter to start with if you’ve never tried one before. It’s not "big" and not overpowering. It gives you a good sense of whats to come, if you choose to drink bitter beers. Enjoyable and fresh. Shakesbeere (54), Massachusetts, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 11, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Golden amber pour with sizable white head. Smells like a pale ale -- some cascade/american hops with some citrus and grain elements. Flavor is of malts, hops, and citrus fruit. Ends on a crisp bitter note. It’s okay, not great. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 11, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep golden reddish color with a small white head. It has a nice malt and honey like aroma. It has a nice clean malty taste with a pleasant bitter aftertaste. This is a very nice beer in my opinion.
