[489-20070808] Tap @ Pickle Barrel (Toronto, ON). Very sweet maple caramel aroma. Clear, amber brown body with a long-lasting creamy white head. Sweet caramel flavour has distinct floral notes. Medium body is a little bitter. Surprising and interesting sweetness.

I have always liked Bass. Great nose, bitter and yeasty flavor, from a rust color with no head. Good with a cigarette.

An old standby at a mid-level beer bar, I routinely choose this one over the Miller Lites, Coronas, and Fosters of the world. Nothing mind-blowing, but solid and sessionable. Slightly bitter and biscuity flavors are the main notes. Solid red/orange hue, little head. There aren’t many beers better-suited for sitting in a dingy pub and spending a rainy evening.

Great color and a light aroma but not too bitter. A traditional ale that impresses.

Pours light colored amber colored with nice foamy head. It’s got a little of the ESB sweetness with just enough hop bite. Could be a little richer, but this is a tough beer to hate. A very safe choice to buy in pitchers with a mixed crowd and a good crossover beer for the swillheads.

Bottle. Pours a light copper color with a medium off white head that stays. The aroma is fruity with some malt and bread. Decent lacing with a malty taste and bitter finish. A decent ESB, but nothing too special.

This is probably one of my favorite ESB style ales. Definitely is better with Guiness in a black & tan, but by itself it does fine. Has a nice copper color, with nice head. Nice lacing as well. Taste is good, nice and smooth with a little bitterness (dry) at the end. Solid.
