Cask at The Regal (Wetherspoons), Cambridge (28-Aug-09). Dark red-brown with a good dense head. Scent has some coffee and dark chocolate and a bit musty. Very carbonated. Dry and bitter. Very little aftertaste but some chocolate, milky coffee and a light hoppiness.

500ml bottle, Sainsbury’s. Dark amber/brown, thick white head that soon disappears. Sweet/fruity aroma. Sweetish malt taste with some fruit and little else distinguishable. Tries hard but ultimately dull.

I really like the look of this beer, poured with a beautiful fluffy head and a deep red colour, almost like a light red wine. Can’t pick much up on the nose, though, just a little bit of malt and that’s it. But the taste is excellent and really refreshing, nice deep flavour of dark malts and hops, slightly dry finish. Really nice bitter, good for everyday drinking.

Bottle that I picked up from Sainsburys, Kidlington, Oxon and consumed in a field at Towersey Festival, Oxon, 28-08-09 Pours dark brown with a filmy beige head. Taste is fruity but also with some chocolate and a touch of bitterness, soft carbonation, its a tasty beer. A6 A3 F7 P3 Ov13 3.2
