Commercial Description:
Cask: Seasonal - Summer.
A hugely popular guest ale brewed specifically for summer, this is a stronger version of our Special Pale Ale. A golden beer with bags of hop character and a refreshing bitter finish. Dangerously drinkable.

Golden beer with a toffee and caramel nose. Thick syrupy, toffee taste, a surprising alcohol twang, and a slightly bitter finish which is overhwelmed by the sweetness. (Cask @ Bridge, Bristol)

Cask Conditioned, at the GBBF, 2004.
Gold bullion colour with patchy white head. Vinegar aroma. Silky mouth feel but has a lot of ethanol lifting from it. Rated right next Bullmastiff which is hard for anything to compete. In attendance chris_o and Wenlock Dave.

Pale honey gold colour. I don’t know whether it was the beer festival conditioning, but I didn’t notice the "bags of hop character" mentioned in the commercial description. Although there were some background sharp hop notes in the aroma and flavour, this was a beer that was big on soft drinkability, but light on crisp bitterness. In fact, the aroma also had some dull malt accents. I suspect the conditioning because First Gold hops generally, in my experience, provide plenty of aromatic bite. Cask, GBBF 2004.
