Sweet and fruity, beautiful deep red colour, hops in the aroma, bitterness at the back of the throat, one of my favourite beers and brewers. A superb mild.. bobinlondon (844), Harrow, Greater London, England

Some yeast. Has some very light caramel malt. It is extremely mild, but not poor because of that. Good example of the style. Malts are decent. Ungstrup (15414), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 18, 2006 [Cask at GBBF 2005] A brown beer with no head. The aroma is sweet - but it also has the sulphury edge, that some Milds have - and that I don’t like. The flavor is a sulphury Mild flavor combined with a slightly roasted dry bitter end. Mild is not a favorite style of mine, but some I like - this is not one of them. DJMonarch (6941), Northwich, Cheshire, England

Malts and caramel dominate the flavour. Finish is slightly roasted. Some fish is noticable. Not something for me, quite filthy. chriso (4852), London, Greater London, England
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 4, 2005 Not on top form. Mid brown colour - rather pale for a dark mild. Some vague roast, but grainy, malt notes and a touch of caramel. A bit thin and undistinguished. Didn’t do much for me. I’m sure it can be better than this. Must get myself up to the Bull & Bladder - haven’t been there since c1975. Cask (gravity dispense), Battersea Beer Festival 2005.

Slight sulphur start, then toffee and caramel in the nose. Sweet in the mouth with lots of fruit and burnt toffee and a tongue tingling fine condition. Smooth long finish with more fruitiness and hints of brown sugar.
