Commercial Description:
Cask, Regular;
Darker in colour, darker in taste, with echoes of the eighteenth century, rich in malt - not for the faint hearted!

Cask, Rugby 09. Glinting ruby with paler edges and an attempt at a head. Sweet blackcurrant balanced with smoke aroma. Lovely rounded smoke, cocoa, apple and bramble. Good cigar linger. Top 1000 material, easy.

Cask, gravity at the Kings Arms Beer Festival, Kidlington, Oxon 28-03-08 Pours dark brown with a very small white head. There is a god rush of bitterness that sits in a layer across the roof of my mouth, very roasty a bit rough around the edges at times but very likeable, finishes fruity and slightly drying. I quite liked this.

Speech House - Forest of Dean. A fabulous deep red smoky coffee of a Porter. One I will return to many times.

Cask @ Piglet BF. Mahogany with a thin off white head. Burnt malts, caramel, coffee grounds and hops in the nose. Taste is overly roasted, burnt malt, black coffee and hops. Some sweetness but the burnt character dominates leaving it slightly unbalanced.

Cask (gravity dispense), Reading Beer Festival, April 2006. Dark coloured, with deep roasted malt, dry chocolate and a touch of coffee. Also full, ripe berry fruit, but the mouthfeel is relatively light. Is it a bitter or is it a porter? Who cares, it’s a pretty decent beer.

Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Reading BF. A very very dark brown coloured beer with a hint of purple. The aroma is roasty and smoky and there is a slight sourness too. The taste is more of the same with some bitterness complementing the fruity burnt malts. A nice drink.

Cask Conditioned at Reading BF 2006. Black with a touch of ruby. Smoky and roasty aroma. Rich and fruity with a smoothness and long roasty finish.

Cask @ Reading 2006: Dark brown in colour. Light roast in the nose. Gentle smooth feel with light fruit and dry malt. Not bad.
