GABF 2009 - yes! - I’ve been waiting for someone to enter this into the system - this is a saison as only JP can make it - a lot of acidity and tang, partly, it seems, from the rose hips used in it, but also in part from some bugs, because there is a light but noticeable funk to it, too - dryness bites in the middle, and carries through the finish, as a light oak character develops at the end - there is a bit of slight bit of depth missing here, but this is light, refreshing, and interesting.

Bottle at the Brewpub. Poured a cloudy amber red with a thick white head. Aroma was tart with notes of grapefruit, grapes, and sour apple. Flavor began with sweet apples but transitioned to more tart/sour grapefruit flavors.

GABF. Poured a brown red. Nose was that beautiful Jolly Pumpkin sour funk melded with notes of earthy, spiced barnyardy, figged beer. Flavor was tart, bretty as hell, yeast and earth. Very nice!

Bottle. Pours a cloudy red/amber color with a rather substantial white head. Aroma is floral, yeast, grain, lemon zest, raisins. Flavor is floral, earthy, raisins, yeast, apple. Palate is medium bodied, high carbonation, finished bitter with some acidic and funky JP’esque notes. Solid! Everything this guy brews is sooo drinkable.

Pours and looks like a mud puddle. Light funky aroma a bit heavy on the yeasty fruits (overripe cherry, hint of raisen). A surprisingly mellow flavor I would have to say a bit bland.

GABF 2009. Pours clear amber with an average, frothy off-white head, mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (hay, straw, cereal), light hop (herbs), heavy yeast (horse blanket, barnyard, earth, must) with notes of date, apple, cherry, and cask. Medium bodied, gritty texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
