Commercial Description:
Steel Drivin’ Stout: is a roasty, dark oatmeal stout with hints of dark chocolate supported by a toasty caramel. This smooth, quaffable stout is a perfect match for the onset of chilly air, warm Fall aromas, and college football. Steel Drivin’ Stout is a tasty companion for chocolate or caramel desserts. 6% ABV

n tap at the brewery. Very decent stout, with some bitterness, it is overall sweetish. Average mouthfeel. Brown colour with good thick lacing. Taste of dark chocolate. I could drink pints of this.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, light chocolate, slight roasting, and slight metal. Poured extremely dark brown/black in color with a large, creamy, dense, brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Sparkling. Flavor is lightly bitter. Tastes of malts, chocolate, roasting, ash, and sourdough pretzels. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Roasted malt and sourdough pretzel finish. Quite disappointing.

Sample at Newtown Brewfest. Pours a deep brown/black with a nice mocha colored head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts makes my mouth water. Silky mouthfeel with roast coffee, dark chocolate, and spicy hops. The finish is dry and full of coffee flavors. Balanced and enjoyable.

Pours a very deep dark black color that is almost completely opaque except for the slight burgundy edges and a 1.5 finger beige head with good retention and sporadic lacing. Roasted malt aroma with hints of chocolate, toffee, coffee, subtle hops and bitter dark chocolate. Silky malt mouthfeel with bitter sweet dark chocalate, roasted malt, subtle hops, toffee, coffee bean and a lot more sweet bitter dark chocolate in the finish.

This was my favorite of all the samples. Dark pour. Aroma is sweet and balanced with roasted malts. Flavor is light and clean and balanced with dark roasted malts and some coffee.

On tap, at brewery, 10 oz sample. Pours a clear dark brown, almost black, body with a good sized fizzy brown head that took a while to die down. The nose is heavy roast with a light but noticeable hop profile. Lighter notes of burnt malt and coffee. The flavor was nicely roasty without being too burnt or ashy, on the drier side with a bit of oat character smoothing things out a bit. Finishes with a nice nutty/roasty lingering note. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with fairly active fizzy carbonation. This was surprisingly good, the best of the bunch that I have tried from them thus far.

Tap at the brewery. Pours a deep dark brown but not quite dark enough- thin head which lasts. Aroma is typickal roast and choclate malts, light coffee but seemd a bit off- some earth and a drying leather saltines. Toffee sweetness in the flavor with soem nutty choclate malts, toast, and light burnt charred malts with a slightly murky finish.
