Commercial Description:
In Flanders, "Ezel" {donkey} is a nickname given to specific people or even entire village communities. However, as the people of this area, the word "Ezel" symbolizes not so much stupidity, but patient and dogged perseverance, a perseverance that is quite conscious of its own quality. The same applies to this ale: brewed from raw materials of the highest quality, it has a mellow taste that shows a real personality.

Bottle at Smokeless Joe’s. Sour yeasty moldy aroma on a great big initial head (Lady, hold the residue or let me pour this myself). Expiry June 2010. Some fruitiness initial, but mouthfeel is unenjoyable, a great sour bite attack on themouth. Th malty finish is fine, but the mouth needs lots of time to recover. Not much taste there, but drinkable.

Bottled(250ml). -Orange/amber coloured, creamy off-white head, lively carbonation, very sweet malty nose. Roasted malt, caramel and light spicy taste with sugary and mild vegetables notes. Slightly peppery fruity finish. Unbalanced beer.

Bottle Hazy, amber-brown body. Off-white, creamy head. Lightly infected aroma (butterscotch, diacethyl (?)), fenols, malts (medium strong), wine, ... Quite badly balanced aroma. Moderately bitter, moderately sweet flavour. Flavour is ok, although the balance is not perfect, but that’s not really disturbing. Powdery dry mouthfeel.

Another from my notes of my first order from Belgianshop.com. I found this one to be odd, but a bit underrated on this site. Amber color wtih a decent sized head. Aromas are malty and dried fruits, and something odd...not sure what. Flavors were malty and sweet wtih a slight bit of tartness. No hops to speak of. Pretty decent, but not world class at all.
