Commercial Description:
Dark ale, fermented in the bottle.
Inspired by a Breughel painting, “The Flemish Proverbs” (1559), in which several Flemish proverbs are depicted amongst which is the expression "He’s a pilaarbijter" ("pillar biter"), which means, ’He’s a hypocritical man.’

(Bottled) Dark reddish brown with a smallish, foamy and tanned, mostly fading head. Slightly sweet and roasted-malty aroma with iron and toffee hints. Neutral-malty, slightly tart flavor with medium bitterness. Very foamy-carbonated, medlium-bodied palate. A potentially decent beer spoiled with way too much carbonation. You hardly taste anything behind the foam.

Bottle at Delirium Cafe, Göteborg. Dark amber color, nice offwhite head. Malty, somewhat vinous aroma. Quite carbonated. Sourish flavor with malty note. Sourish finish.

Picked up at the ’Little Marches Beer Shop’, Ludlow, Salop, 10-03-07. Poured a cloudy brown colour with off white head. Aroma was slightly yeasty, taste was sort of sweet and sour, definate tang to it, but malty and fruity as well. Not my favourite but not bad all the same.

Lot of lace, with a big soapy head on cloudy brown. Served in the matching glass by the brewery, at Smokeless Joe’s. A sharp aroma, thought it was alcohol but at 6.5% maybe something else. chocolate malts, it’s malty with a carmel and citrus Coco-Cola aftertaste, but with added spice, and then..a flemish sour finish. Or, like a Belgian yeasty dunkel.

[Bottle from Rob in Hesselager.] Nice label! Great redamber look with sweet aroma. Flavor is sweet too with notes of friuts and some spices, but compared with other belgians it’s just ordinary, but not bad.

Explodes out of bottle, took 5 minutes to pour, fades slowly to a thin layer leaving some lace. Murky amber color, ton of yeast in bottom of bottle. Strong carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Raisin nose. Flavor is sweet and sour raisins, smooth easy to drink, this small bottle is not enough.

Muddy, amber brown, large fine creamy top.
Aroma: sour, acidic with sweet malt base below, slight earthy overtones.
Medium bodied, short harsh carbonation. Medium dark malt. Alcohol well covered. Shallowly flavored .Felt washed out.

Aroma has caramel, candied malt and treacle, hazy reddish/brown, pours a small toffee head, some lace. Tastes of almonds, pit frit, red plums dominant, black cherry and treacle again. Lot’s of carbonation, well balanced, pleasantly bitter with a slight sweetness also. Reallygood.
