Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jun 10, 2007 Gotta first give credit - where does an artistic concept like a guy biting a pillar come from?
Reddish-brown colour. Big fluffy head. Rich brown sugar, plu, pear nose with abundant spicy, footy yeastiness. The body’s a little fizzy, hiding a light dusty yeast and sweet dark malts, dates. There’s a slight sharpness late - at this point its faint enough that it could just be alcohol but I worry. It’s got just enough character to be characterful but is still a fairly standard-issue brew.
Beltramelli (464), Campinas, Brazil Sep 3, 2008 Creme marrom denso e consistente. Aroma e sabor um tanto fracos de malte torrado e caramelo. Final longo e adocicado. note666 (223), Eindhoven, Netherlands Aug 15, 2008 330 ml bottle. ruby brown colour. Borresteijn (584), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 14, 2008 Bottle in Bruges. Dark amber brown colour, beige fluffy head. Aroma of caramel and forest fruits, yeast. OK BoBoChamp (729), Gent, Belgium Jul 20, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, easy to drink, yet complex, clear, rocky head, nice brew joohefner (379), Isla Vista, California, USA Jul 2, 2008 Pours a murky brown-maroon color with thin tan frothy head. It has a light sweet chocolate and phenol aroma. Smooth body with a slight stickiness. Caramel and chocolate flavor with some tart cherries and a light spiciness. The tartness is unexpected and makes me wonder whether it was a bad bottle or a flemish influence. Drinkable but lacks depth.
