Commercial Description:
Dark ale, fermented in the bottle.
Inspired by a Breughel painting, “The Flemish Proverbs” (1559), in which several Flemish proverbs are depicted amongst which is the expression "He’s a pilaarbijter" ("pillar biter"), which means, ’He’s a hypocritical man.’

A deep red beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is very sweet with notes of berries, coriander, cowberries, and raisins. The flavor is also very sweet with notes of coriander and alcohol prickling the tongue.

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy, orangey brown with a creamy, beige head. Aroma of caramel and overripe fruit. Medium body with a heavy carbonation, sweetish roasted malts, some overripe fruit and alcohol. Some bittering hops in the finish. Decent. 080607

Bottled. Dark ruby with rich, firm head. Orangey, juicy, yeasty aroma. Sweet and sour, with vinous character and notes of rosehip. Fairly light bodied with salty, grassy finish. Very interesting flavourwise, but the body feels a bit thin.

Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average duration, with a light light sour ale alike after taste. Bottle. Gusher! Aroma is caramelly, malty, sourish, dark sugary. Reddish chestnut colour, lacy light brown head. At first the flavour is slightly sour, turning sweet. Brown sugar, roasted flavour. Smooth mouthfeel. (Too) high carbonation.

Bottled. Brown colour with beige head. Leaves some slight lace. Aroma is caramel, spices and some fruits. Quite strong zest coming through. Flavour is sweet malts with spices, herbs and some fruits. Also some candyish sweetness noteable, which bothers me a bit in the flavour. Otherwise a rather nice beer.
