Murky amber color, ton of yeast in bottom of bottle. Strong carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Raisin nose. Flavor is sweet and sour raisins, smooth easy to drink, this small bottle is not enough. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 18, 2006 From a dated bottle: Different from most Belgian bruins. Aromas and flavors overwhelmed by grapes, more like a lambic than a bruin. "Lively" carbonation and dark pour. Not even close to what I expected, but in the long run, a very unique and enjoyable experience. TheCaptain (559), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA

Muddy chestnut brown pour with really nice foamy head and foam lacing. Pleasant toasty slight spice aroma that moves into a nice pallet filler. Smooth with malts and grains with that Belgian Dubbel full flavor and no real bitterness. Liked this better than the blonde. Excellent Belgian, really enjoyed it and I will look for more. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jul 29, 2005 33 cl bottle, ’03. Gigantic, rocky tan head with yeasties, sits on top of a brown body. Taste is tangy right away with some dried grape and chocolate. The head takes up half the glass, so ya gotta be careful pouring. Listed on RB as a Belgian Ale, the label states it’s a tripel. Not getting enough sweetness for that, but oh well. Some candy sugars are evident with medium carbonation. An enjoyable beer I’d drink again. maeib (4745), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
