Beershine (1440), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Nov 20, 2007 Nice pour, but its head can be a little too excited. Thick appearance, dark amber color crowned by white foam. Lacing is nice. Aroma of alcohol, brass, wood, and overripe fruit. Nice mouthfeel: covers the mouth without being sticky. May be too carbonated for some but it’s not a sharp carbonation: just an enthusiastic one. Candy sugar and some prune flavors. Slight sourness. Not terribly complex, on the lackluster side, but not bad either.
Beltramelli (464), Campinas, Brazil Sep 3, 2008 Creme marrom denso e consistente. Aroma e sabor um tanto fracos de malte torrado e caramelo. Final longo e adocicado. note666 (223), Eindhoven, Netherlands Aug 15, 2008 330 ml bottle. ruby brown colour. BIG off white head. not as carbonated as the blond, but still to much. taste is not as dark as I hoped, more fruity than I expected... Borresteijn (584), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 14, 2008 Bottle in Bruges. Dark amber brown colour, beige fluffy head. Aroma of caramel and forest fruits, yeast. Flavour is dry, roasted malts, spices and yeast, forest fruits. OK BoBoChamp (729), Gent, Belgium Jul 20, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, easy to drink, yet complex, clear, rocky head, nice brew joohefner (379), Isla Vista, California, USA Jul 2, 2008 Pours a murky brown-maroon color with thin tan frothy head. It has a light sweet chocolate and phenol aroma. Smooth body with a slight stickiness. Caramel and chocolate flavor with some tart cherries and a light spiciness. The tartness is unexpected and makes me wonder whether it was a bad bottle or a flemish influence. Drinkable but lacks depth.
