Commercial Description:
Huguenots may have originated the style as they traveled through France to Flanders, having first mentioned it in the 1600s. During their time, there were said to be seven hundred weissbier breweries in Berlin. Later, in 1809, Napoleon and his troops identified Berliner Weisse as the Champagne of the North. He requested the beer be served w/syrup to cut its extreme level of acidity. Bayrischer Bahnhof’s interpretation is a slightly softer, more mellow version of the “Berliner Weisse” style with a beautiful balance of tartness, fruitness, and sweetness.

Bottle. Pours an opaque light yellow with small white head. The aroma is sweetish honey with some citrus tones and a little sassafrass. The flavor is both grainy and citrusy, with a soft acidic tartness. Some hay and biscuit notes come out once in a while. This is actually quite refreshing.

33cl botte from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a hazy dark yellow/caramel color with a thin white head that diminishes quickly to nothing. Aroma is somewhat faint with wet hay and musty wheat notes. Some bread and yeast present as well. Flavor is tart with ripe fruit and tangy lemon notes. Light to medium body with a slightly sweet, slightly bitter finish. Interesting.

11.2 oz bottle. Clear straw with some floaties. White head fizzed up like pouring a Sprite, then was gone.Somewhat sweet nose, light, sweet lemon and granny smith apple.Light cereal flavors, lemony with a touch of green apple flavors. Mildly tart. Light, smooth and clean, it’s gone from the palate in a minute, leaving just a mild dryness. Not bad.

Bottle courtesy tpd975. Pours a hazy pale golden with a large white head that fades leaving some spotty lacing. Aroma of citrus, wheat, light acidity, and yeast. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium creamy mouthfeel with a slightly tart crisp finish. Very good.

Pours pale yellow into a trappist glass. Bright white head quickly recedes to hug rim. Sharp yeast from front to back but rather light and watery.

11.2oz bottle. Poured a medium and hazy/cloudy yellow color with a larger sized white head. Aromas of yeast, bready, dried out lemon peels, and wet/musty wheat (almost like a pile of horse manure). Tastes of wheat and lemons. Verly light tart finished. Description was spot on with ’...more mellow version of teh Berliner Weisse style...;.

Bottle: Pours a hazy gold with a white head. Aroma, light yeasty notes, lemon zest, bready notes, tart. Flavor, lemons, tart, almost cider like in some ways, yeasty, doughy notes, finishes dry with a light tartness. Pretty good.

Draft at gaslight. This light gold beer with a thin white head is terrible without the getrankesirup that was added by the bartender after telling me about adding this raspberry syrup to the beer it became tolerable but obviously sweet raspberry as one would imagine. The soultion is more like a 3.2 the base beer is more like...
