Commercial Description:
Huguenots may have originated the style as they traveled through France to Flanders, having first mentioned it in the 1600s. During their time, there were said to be seven hundred weissbier breweries in Berlin. Later, in 1809, Napoleon and his troops identified Berliner Weisse as the Champagne of the North. He requested the beer be served w/syrup to cut its extreme level of acidity. Bayrischer Bahnhof’s interpretation is a slightly softer, more mellow version of the “Berliner Weisse” style with a beautiful balance of tartness, fruitness, and sweetness.

Cloudy pale yellow, almost white color beneath a small head. Aroma is full of cereals and wheat with light notes of lemon juice. Mild grain-like wheat flavors accompanied by a light lemon-lime citric acidity. Definitely an easy drinking thirst quencher, but I would love to see just a little more acidity and tartness.

This Berliner Weiss pours a slightly cloudy light yellow gold color from a 330ml bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is slightly tart and lemonish. A lighter bodied Berliner weiss. Interesting, its tart and lemonish and much milder than Berliner Kindl Weisse. Given that the Kindl Weisse is a sharp kick in the teeth, this beer is a mild bump in the night. Its tart and refreshing, but I can’t help but feel it’s kind of watered down. It has a very mild flavor and seems somewhat watery. Part of that is the 3% alcohol, but it still feels watered down. Guess I need to try more of this style. Mouthfeel is round and a touch thin. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is a touch tart and slightly bitter.

i finally get to try this style and it is what i expected, and wanted: a low alcohol, tart, thirst quencher! like a light wheat, with a highly acidic flavor of sour apple and lemon, and with a slightly creamy palate.

From a 330mL Bottle. Pours a transparent, ultra light golden color with a finger of fizzy, brilliant white head. Aromas of light creamy wheat, milky banana, and pear esters. Banana shake with a twist of lemon. Hints of muenster cheese. Light bodied, lightly carbonated mouthfeel with a dry, effervescent tongue tingle. Lightly tart, with a milky lactic quality and flavors of muenster cheese covered granny smith apples. Cream of wheat breakfast cereal. Great balance of fruit, wheat, and light acidity.

Bright yellow body that looks like a white wine to me. The head is white and faded quickly. The aroma is fresh apples with some wood. There is also a little bit of straw. The taste is very dry with a little bit of lemon sour at the start. The finish is like eating straw with a little bit of dried apple chips. Decent and refreshing, very mild for the style.

Bottle: Cloudy yellow with a thin white head and a light head. The nose musky with a bit of wheat and sweet grass and banana. Noticeable leather and yeast. The flavor is fairly tart with a creamy full bodied wheaty mouthfeel. Semisweet even with the malt and yeast combo. The tart hugs it close though, if the sourness combined with something a little more dry, then it might merit a little cassis syrup. A bit mellow for my liking. If you’re going to do something, do it right, eh?

milky yellow almost white pour with a spritzy white head. milk, lemon and wood/grassy aromas. wheaty lactic flavor with notes of grass, light yeast and a mineral/chalk element. clean citrusy tart finish with no lingering flavors. lively carbonated with a light body. a lot simpler and lighter than i expected.
