Commercial Description:
Huguenots may have originated the style as they traveled through France to Flanders, having first mentioned it in the 1600s. During their time, there were said to be seven hundred weissbier breweries in Berlin. Later, in 1809, Napoleon and his troops identified Berliner Weisse as the Champagne of the North. He requested the beer be served w/syrup to cut its extreme level of acidity. Bayrischer Bahnhof’s interpretation is a slightly softer, more mellow version of the “Berliner Weisse” style with a beautiful balance of tartness, fruitness, and sweetness.

Nice one. I love this style and wish I could find more. This was a little weaker than I was hoping for but still great. Aroma of wheat and lemon. Pour was beautiful. A very light gold (almost white) with swirling heavy sediment. Not floaters but what can only be described as a shampoo like goopiness floating in the middle. Taste was nice and tart with a lot of yeast and lemon. Great carbonation. Nice dry aftertaste with the sour citrus staying in the back of the throat.

Slightly cloudy golden color pour with a thin white head. Aroma of lemon peel and yeast, with a touch of grass. Very smooth on the tongue. Slightly bitter, yeasty citrus flavor. Enjoyable.

Pours a slightly hazy golden with a small fizzy head. Wheat and lemon aroma, some grain as well. Light sweetness, quite tart, a little fruit comes out.

330ml bottle from iowaherkeye. Thanks Joey. Poured a hazy yellow color after agitating the sediment at the bottom of the bottle. The head was bubbly, white, and reduced quickly to a thin film. Aroma was of lemon zest, honey, and cereal grain. Light and fizzy on the tongue with mild to moderate tart lemony acidity that peaked up front and gave way to a subdued malty caramel finish. There was also a cereal grain flavor throughout.

11.2oz bottle. Served in a vintage pilsner glass @ ~55°. Aroma is is faint with sharp wheat and a sort of tart aroma, reminiscent of lemons. Color is incredibly light yellow, brilliantly clear, with persistent carbonation, and a smallish white head. A fair amount of yeast is left behind in the bottle and will readily mix with the beer is allowed to. Initial taste is sharp wheat and a bit of lemon followed by some tartness and a flavor that reminds me of fresh milled malted wheat. There is a light perfume flavor as well, but it is fleeting. The finish is mildly tart with some lingering light acidity. This is a very mellow Berliner Weisse, almost bordering on an overly tart, under hopped american wheat. I’m sure a good summer drink at 3% alcohol with a light body, active carbonation, light flavor, and a refreshing character, but it lacks the tartness and complexities the style often brings. This was purchased in KC, but I’m not sure if it was in KS or MO.

bottle, pours nearly white pale yellow with medium to large white head. Big yeasties made it into the glass. Aroma is a sweet funky scent with some hallertau hops playing in the background with a touch of rotten fruit. Flavor is much better than the initial aroma. Sharp and tart up front with a nice lemony middle melting anway to reveal a long grassy dry finish. Very tasty despite the initial aroma.

11.2 oz bottle from Yonkers65. Plenty of lacto funk on the nose. Bread dough, rotting pear skin, a bit of dank basement, sour milk. Pours a cloudy light yellow with a thin bright white head. Flavor has lot of moist bread dough, lemon zest, wet grain, lightly funky yeast and a pleasant lacto creaminess. Medium bodied. Quite refreshing with very crisp carbonation.

Bottle. Pours hazy champagne color, medium-sized white head, visible yeast sediment. Aroma is white grapes, pear, hints of light citrus, backed by mild fresh dough, fresh-smelling yeast. Flavor is mild graininess, dankness, tart, bright fruitiness throughout. Finish has lingering sour flavors and doughiness. Refreshing with interesting complexity.
