Commercial Description:
Huguenots may have originated the style as they traveled through France to Flanders, having first mentioned it in the 1600s. During their time, there were said to be seven hundred weissbier breweries in Berlin. Later, in 1809, Napoleon and his troops identified Berliner Weisse as the Champagne of the North. He requested the beer be served w/syrup to cut its extreme level of acidity. Bayrischer Bahnhof’s interpretation is a slightly softer, more mellow version of the “Berliner Weisse” style with a beautiful balance of tartness, fruitness, and sweetness.

Cloudy, almost white like whey. Nose is banana tang, sour, and playful. Mouthfeel is spritzy yet soft. Funk is everywhere. Sour, tangy banana. Sourdough starter. Lactic. Perfectly weird, dry, and clean. So much character and only 3%. Fun and ideal for daytime drinking like a picnic or just stopping by the side of the road to share with a friend...

Bottled. Poured clear-ish apple juicy golden with a short-lived cap of white head. The aroma picked up sour notes of pineapple, wheat, and apples.. nice and subtle, and as far as I can tell, a solid representation of the style (albeit subtle). The flavor had sour light fruits (green apple, pear, and pineapple) with more of a wheaty texture than flavor.. moderately sour and interesting. Dry on the palate with lower carbonation. This was OK, but it didn’t have anything to keep my attention.

Hazy bright yellow with light white head. Aroma is sour and barny with a very citrus presence. Taste is lemon, almost like lemon juice but with a wheaty touch. Nice tart and fruit balance.

Very pale, with a thin white head. Aroma is somewhat malty, wheat like character, grapefruit, and lemon. Taste is a dry fruit character, with lemon, and a light maltiness. Refreshing beer.

In short: Lemonade with bubbles. Bland but drinkable.
How: Bottle, drank within days after buying it.
The look: Very cloudy peach-color body with a very short-lived white head
In long: Hay and diluted lemon juice with banana hints in the finish. Very very light on taste. Fizzy. That’s a lemonade with bubbles, barely a beer. A bit tart. Very short finish. Body dies very quickly, within 5 minutes the beer was totally lifeless. As bland as it was it was also very drinkable in a lemonade kind of way. I bought my bottle in Boston and in the land of bigger-is-better beers this little shy 3% baby has as much future as a Marxist in a Texas Oil company.

Bottle.

A light, buttery Berliner Weisse, lemon mild for the style and very mild funk, the simple grainy flavors of a slightly stale pils.Totally drinkable, entirely refreshing, but not particularly stimulating.

Bottle. Murky, pale straw color with a white head. Very grainy aroma with a sour note to it. Tons of grains and lemons in the flavor. Somewhat bready and tart. I’ve always said these are my least favorite beers but they seem to be growing on me a bit. Clean dry finish with a lasting sourness.

Super pale (clear) straw. Lightly wheaty, but strongly lactic aroma. Rather lactic flavor, with a light wheatiness. Quite dry. Light-moderate mouthfeel. This would be more refreshing if it were less lactic, as it really dominates and is all I really taste after just a few sips.
