Commercial Description:
Huguenots may have originated the style as they traveled through France to Flanders, having first mentioned it in the 1600s. During their time, there were said to be seven hundred weissbier breweries in Berlin. Later, in 1809, Napoleon and his troops identified Berliner Weisse as the Champagne of the North. He requested the beer be served w/syrup to cut its extreme level of acidity. Bayrischer Bahnhof’s interpretation is a slightly softer, more mellow version of the “Berliner Weisse” style with a beautiful balance of tartness, fruitness, and sweetness.

A very clear pale yellow color with small fizzy white head. Aroma of grain, tartness, and light fruit. The flavor is quite tart and sour, with apple, biscuits, and old funk. Pretty good.

Pours a very light and watery gold color. Aroma is slightly tart and yeasty. Taste is much the same; very light with some hints of yeast and sour must.

After having several other Berliner-weisses I do not believe this is a good representation of the style. Pours a hay colored yellow with no head. Aromas of apple and lemon zest. The flavor is mildly tart with some grains. Some citrus is present also. The body was somewhat slick or syrupy.

Pours clear yellow body. Sharp aroma of tart. Taste is a light mix of cider and wit. No alcohol whatsoever.
