Commercial Description:
Huguenots may have originated the style as they traveled through France to Flanders, having first mentioned it in the 1600s. During their time, there were said to be seven hundred weissbier breweries in Berlin. Later, in 1809, Napoleon and his troops identified Berliner Weisse as the Champagne of the North. He requested the beer be served w/syrup to cut its extreme level of acidity. Bayrischer Bahnhof’s interpretation is a slightly softer, more mellow version of the “Berliner Weisse” style with a beautiful balance of tartness, fruitness, and sweetness.

Courtesy SoLan. Slightly cloudy light straw color, thin white head. Very mild acetic notes over light floral grain aroma base. Sweetish grainy start with a slight sour finish. A mild but still refreshing berliner.

33 cL bottle thanks to KimJohansen. Pours hazy yellow with a diminished white head. Mild cornish and earthy aroma lending towards a light milky note. Acidic and light salty flavoured with a mild bitterness showing through. Mild acidic/milky and bitter finish.

Bottle. [Tasting @ Papsoe 20-10-2008] Average thick creamy almost egg white head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Cloudy pale orange color. Aroma of milk sourness, light wheat, somewhat grainy like. Light bodied with an average carbonation. Light sour and sweet flavor. Light sour wheat and milky finish

Bottle thanks to Eric. Pours a cloudy yellow color with a small, almost no head. The aroma is fairly sweet; lots of honey and grains, and some light lemon notes. The flavor was much tarter; loads of lemon, acidic and citrus flavors. Some balance achieved by the sweet honey and malt flavors, lots of grains. Very interesting. Quite acidic but also very drinkable and smooth.

Bottle from West Lakeview. Pours a very pale straw yellow. Fluffy head that goes away. Nose is distinctly lemon, no barnyard at all (which it shouldn’t have), A little musty yeast and grain. Taste is actually sweet. It has a lactic taste in the front, but finishes thin and watery, which is disappointing. Far from over top, has a touch of skunkiness to the flavor as well. Kinda like a pale lager with lemon juice in it... Okay.

Pours a straw yellow-gold with a small oily white head. Cleanses the palate- I had no syrup. Smells acidic with a tinge of citrus. An exemplar of the style. I can see this one as a palate cleanser, but not as enjoyable as other ales.

Very doughy and barnyard tart nose. Lemony yellow color, hazy, small head. Mild tartness, nutty funkiness, not much sweetness or bitterness to speak of. Light carbonation, thin body, easy elegant finish. Very unique beer, almost like "gueze light", quite interesting.

Bottled sample via radiomgb. Very pale yellow in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas of red-skinned apples and malted wheat. A bit fruit forward in the mouth, with more apple and additional lemon and a bit of wheat. Somewhat tart, but not over the top. Fairly refreshing, but a little too fruity for me.
