Handbottle 50 cl. Courtesy of kappeldav123. Pours a clear reddish brown with a small off-white head. Sweet aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Medium body, hard roasted malts and chocolate, a little vanilla. Malt bitter finish. Delicious. 231109

Clear dark brown color with a average to large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, coffee dusty. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and burnt roasted - coffee bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is soft. [20090702]

Draught at the brewpub. It’s a black/brown beer with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel and coffee. The flavour has notes of roasted malt, coffee, dry citrus and caramel. The body, balance and harmony in this beer is outstanding, and it’s the best schwarzbier I ever had, truly nice! I could drink a lot more of this stuff, than I did that nice evening in the beginning of September 2008, but the next morning I were glad I didn’t ;)

On tap at the brewery. The aroma is very malty, smoky. The flavor is malty, quite monotonous. The beer is somehow boring.

Draft at the brewery.

Pours dark dark black with a light tan head. Mellow roasty nose, burnt coffee, roasty grain, and apple in the flavor, thin mouthfeel. It’s a nice beer, but I just keep thinking about the gose...

Medium beige creamy head with larger bubbles. Opaque black body goes dark hazy brown at the edges. Light peppery, caramelly aroma. Taste is light, clean, roasty malts with burnt notes. Some caramel. Smooth, velvety. Dry aftertaste. Very nice. (0.3l on tap.)

On tap at Bayerischer Bahnhof. A bit unfair perhaps because I’m not much of a schwarzbier fan, especially that dry burnt coffee aftertaste. Had that bad combination of wateriness and intense flavour that just makes me wish I was drinking a good stout or porter.
