Commercial Description:
Leipziger Gose is a top-fermenting wheat beer {60% wheat, 40% barley malt} with coriander, salt, and lactic acid bacteria added in the boil. It is a 4.6% alc/vol eclectic beer whose name evokes a close relationship to the renowned Lambic/Geuze breweries in the Valley Senne nearby Brussels, Belgium.

Pours a clear copper color, it is well carbonated which supports a tan head. The aroma is of grain-wheat with notes of lemon and some light spice notes. To me this has a clean appetizing aroma. The beer is sweet up front with a lightly sour finish. The sourness seems to be both a combination of the wheat used and the yeast/ bugs used, though it is quite light and in almost not there when compared to some of the other sour beers of the world. This beer is light and refreshing, a perfect beer for this hot July night. There almost seems to be a smoky note in the finish, perhaps this is all that is left of the coriander. The beer itself is non-descriptly spicy. I have a feeling that this light beer is showing its age a bit, while still quite enjoyable, it was not as pronounced in its uniqueness as the brewing process would suggest.

Ruddy pale orange, cloudy with a thickcream coloured head. Nose is fruity coriander, faint pepper. Citrus all the way, great mouthfeel, very drinkable. Coriander adds a bit of depth and clove notes, hefewit sums out the flavor profile here. Salt is interesting, subtle, well balanced. I wish I had the proper glass, and a shot of allasch. I could drink this all day long. A nice combination of flavors.

Has a very unusual flavor, not what one would expect from a wheat beer. I found the combination of salty, sour and spicy flavors to be very unsatisfying, and not at all lambic-like, as advertised.

Tasted at homebrew club meeting. Interesting. The salt, coriander and wheat are indeed all in there. Kind of horsey and sour, with a definite lactic quality. I guess it's a beer that's exactly as advertised! Salt gives it a softened water taste. Then it finishes with a little sweetness. Not to my personal taste, but a pleasure to have discovered.

500 ml bottle. Dark golden color and cloudy body. Definite lactic acid sourness which gets offset by a lasting saltiness that reminds me off licking a pretzel after drinking a berliner weiss. Doesn’t sound like it would be any good, but this beer somehow pulls it off.

Puckering sourness is awesome, much like a Berliner weiss but this has subtle hints of coriander, apple notes and dry tart finish. Wonderful.

500ml bottle, poured into a Leupzip bulbous glass. Nice bold amber appearance, with a dense head. The aroma was mild, with a hint of the sourness to come. Flavor wise - this is a tough one to bear. The combination of saltiness AND sourness is too much. The finish is nice and dry, but a little puckering.

Deep gold orange, with fine thick head, some cloudiness from sediment. Slight sour nose w/ some metallic citrus? hints of vanilla, and coriander. Sour metallic citrus, some salt notes, the lactic acid presents interesting flavors. Very light mouthfeel with weediness and coriander...very interesting
