Commercial Description:
Name changed to Dancing Trout as of 2007. Trout Slayer is called "Crystal Weizen" in Bavaria and is the filtered version of our Bayern Hefeweizen and has a more pronounced wheat flavor and a golden color. Bayern's Trout Slayer is hopped moderately with Hallertauer Perle (Germany), the alcohol content is 5.6% alc./volume. We use malted wheat, two-row Harrington Pale and caramel malt (14° Plato o.g.). Technically speaking, you could call this beer an ale because it is top-fermented. However, this beer has been cold fermented and the maturation time is as long as lager beer (a full 28 days instead of 8-10 days like an ale).

Bottle: Golden, fairly clear, large white frothy head, very nice lacing, lively carbonation.   Pale wheat nose, slight graininess, touch of cardboard.   Somewhat wheaty flavor, slight cereal, tangy.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Finish fades too quick, soft wheaty aftertaste, slightly creamy.   A Kristallweizen maybe, but a German one?

Bottle, pre-Rita. Pours a thick, lush orange but the vivacity tapers toward the end of the pour. Aroma is almost cantaloupe-like, with a sour tint. Flavor is full, loaded with citrus, hops, and a touch of malt. Interesting beer; would make a good session brew.

I’d be drinking it weekly if I could get my hands on it! It poured a dark yellow with a thin head but smelled of roasted corn. A wheaty hops taste w/o the bitter aftertaste as well a resonable %. Brewed in Montana, US in the heart of the rockies with fresh glacier waters. Great Micro brew!

Corn in the aroma, corn in the flavor. I’m not sure where it comes from; not really objectionable, but not much there to object to!!

(Draft: Horse Brass Pub in Portland, OR) Fairly malty for a golden ale, this is pretty solid. It tastes a bit grainy, but this is a good graininess, not the generic sweet corn flavor often found in golden ales. There’s also a tasty fruitiness that stands alongside the malt, and a very mild bitterness far in the background. The nose is very fruity and fairly grainy. Light bodied, but with enough malt that it’s never in danger of being thin or watery. Sweet enough and with the light hoppiness, it’s not crisp at all. Pale golden color, fully clear. The small white head fades to a ring, and only leaves a bit of lace near the top of the glass. Not my style of beer, this for a golden ale, this isn’t bad at all.

Good golden color, small wite head that faded quickly leaving little behind. Not a lot going on here for aroma or taste for that matter.Aroma of mild malt and the hops are faint with th taste coming off as weak malt and just a hint of hops in the end.Not bad for a summer brew i guess if you need a thirst quencher but for over all enjoyment it just doesn’t make the mark.

Bottled. Pours a medium golden color. Aroma is grainy with a hint of yeast and a caramel type smell. Some what malty and burnt tasting Doesn’t taste like a wheat to me. Annoying bitter aftertaste.

Dark yellow with a mostly receding white head. Smells of clover and honey, with only a slight hop aroma. Taste starts with biscuity malt but has a rather bland aftertaste. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly bitter. The cold fermentation renders this beer quite unexciting.
