Commercial Description:
Name changed to Dancing Trout as of 2007. Trout Slayer is called "Crystal Weizen" in Bavaria and is the filtered version of our Bayern Hefeweizen and has a more pronounced wheat flavor and a golden color. Bayern's Trout Slayer is hopped moderately with Hallertauer Perle (Germany), the alcohol content is 5.6% alc./volume. We use malted wheat, two-row Harrington Pale and caramel malt (14° Plato o.g.). Technically speaking, you could call this beer an ale because it is top-fermented. However, this beer has been cold fermented and the maturation time is as long as lager beer (a full 28 days instead of 8-10 days like an ale).

Bottle, split with NachlamSie. Pours hazy pale gold, no head at all. Aroma is mildy bready and fruity. Flavor is a bit watery, some weak berries and citrus, with a bready finish. Not bad, but this was a backup beer after opening an infected Hair of the Dog Adam. Damn HotD’s Bottling procedures!!!!

Bottle: Transparent light orange pour with a large head that disapated quickly. Aroma is Sweet of fruit and malt, some hints of citrus. Taste is caramel, malt, fruit, and some light hops. Crisp, yet bubbly. Pretty mediocre.

I enjoyed this beer sittingin a rocking chair on a porch at a mountain cabin with a good cigar in Idaho so maybe my rating is a little high. No glass used so I can’t comment on the head or color. A good ale with the usual malt and hop taste. There was a sweetness and citris aftertaste that made the beer different.

12oz bottle. Poured a medium and clear golden color with almost no head. I’m searching for aromas here, very lightly fruity, bananas, and spices. Tastes of generic fruitiness, light wheat, and light spices. Thin and bordering on watery body. Not offensive, but not really anything there.

Cold 12oz bottle: Pours a clear and quite bubbly peach color with a minimal amount of bubbles that diminish quickly. Aroma and taste are of sweet malt and apples with ilght bitterness. Well carbonated. Ends smoothly and lightly sweet.

Pours a two finger white head that fades to a ring leaving no lace. Almost cloudy color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Slight malty nose. Starts balanced malts and hops are equal, finish is slightly hoppy. No pronounced wheat flavor. $1.30 for a 12oz bottle from Liquid Solutions Tigard, Or.
